Hey guys

I got a Voigtländer Vitessa T and a Weston Master s74/715 for €6 yesterday. It was the light meter I was after, but as the Vitessa looked so nice I just grabbed it as well.

Anyway, overall the camera looks really nice and only shows little signs of use in form of brassing on the eyepiece. I'm not sure it really is working though. At first I had serious problem even understanding how it worked, for some reason I find it to be the most complex camera I have ever come across.

It seems though as the shutter only releases every other advance. Meaning that when I press the big advance thing and then press the shutter button, it kind of clicks, but I can both hear and see that the shutter does not open. If I advance and release again, it releases the shutter. And that behavior seems to be consistent, so I even started to think its supposed to be like that.

But when I did it with the back off, it seems its not actually advancing the film properly all the time.

So do you guys think its totally broken, of fixable with a CLA or other not overly expensive repair? Just a quick look online seemed to indicate that a working on could go for €100, can that be right?

Thanks,
Kenny

The Vitessa is a superb camera. What lens did it come with? 50/2.8?
the Voigtländer lenses are usually very good.

I would have it CLAd, definitely. I love my Vitessa L :)

Hey

Yes, it came with the 2.8 50mm. Unfortunately there is a scratch on the front lens, but I suspect it is still in usable condition. It's a pity though because the camera overall is in great shape. I think I'll leave it at the local service guy and have him take a look. I don't shoot huge amounts of film, but it would be cool to have a working camera of course. :)

The Vitessa T is a fantastic camera with interchangeable lenses.
They are the same as for the Bessamatic but with a different mount.
So go for a service and enjoy this masterpiece!
