Would you buy a Digital Leica CL ?

Sheesh, there are a lot of Leica naysayers floating about the forums these days.

I'd buy a modern Leica CL digital in an instant still. If Leica takes the X Vario body shell and fits the same sensor (optimized for RF lenses), a focal plane shutter, and an M-mount on it, I'll buy it as soon as I can plunk down the cash. That would be the modern version of a CL in a digital body. Fit the same 21, 40, 90 mm lenses on it as I use with the CL ... the FoVs shift around, but the effect is the same. Maybe add a 28 mm lens to the mix.

Yeah, it would be expensive. I'll afford it, it's likely my ideal small camera.

What I would really like to see is a Voigtlander R-D2, 24Mp, M mount, with either live view on the back, or the ability to fit my Viso III. Is that too much to ask? Then I would forget about buying a new digital Nikon (for the close-up work).

Not a Leica product, but the recently announced Panasonic Lumix GX7 coming asymptotically close to my notion of a Leica CL Digital.

Imagine http://4.static.img-dpreview.com/files/articles/8599640731/GX7_main.jpg fitted with Olympus 12mm, 17mm, Panasonic/Leica 25mm, 43mm, Olympus 70mm lenses ... Or any of the excellent Voigtländer primes ..

Soon as I see one of these in the flesh, I suspect I'll be out another $1000. Sigh.

I don't think I shall be splashing 3 grand on a camera body any time soon, but if I was in the ball park and wanted an M mount body, I would probably hold out for a digital M.

I would however be interested in filling the photographic position a CL would have occupied for me, namely a small compact capable camera with small fast, capable primes. Right now, that's probably the Fuji XE-1 to me, with a few of those small Fuji primes.

I did, it's called the Fuji X100/s or XE1, or even the XPro1. I don't need the Leica name.
