Would you buy a Werramatic?

Yes! Optics are good, and the design is just brilliant.

SH Photo's prices are a bit on the high side, though, as usual. 100 EUR for a Werra? They are selling for under 20 EUR on German eBay, definitely a sleeper as far as rangefinders are concerned. There is version with the rare 2.8/35 Flektogon currently on German eBay (#300029031129).

I remember these well. They were rugged, had good optics and were quite compact. Sort of the P&S's of the day.

There are people that can repair selinimum light meters, so that should be less of a worry.

Not only should take good photos, but should be a good conversation starter. I don't think they were ever very popular in the U.S. 😎

I wanted to have one a long time ago. However, the way that my finger blocks the lightmeter's 'projection window' (I don't know how to call it. It's the thing next to the shutter release on the top of the camera.) and rendering the metering bar black really bugged me. So I decided to drop that idea. Other than that, the camera is a nice piece of engineering.
