A slighty overpriced Lynx on ebay
If he dropped the leading "2" off the BIN it would be closer to what I paid for my Lynx 14e.

I wouldn't buy anything from these "Hollywood" guys. Every single one of their listings is vastly overinflated.

It never ceases to amaze me that people actually DO buy from them with their insanely high prices. I usually use a saved search that excludes this seller and a few select others so I don't need to waste my time with these overpriced listings. I forgot to use it this time and found the above listing, and I thought it would be amusing to share it with the forum.
As an aside, I bought the same model from another RFF'er for 20 dollars plus shipping.

My 5000 in very similar condition (including minor traces of corrosion on lens barrel as this Lynx has) came for under $9, well, I needed to unstuck stutter. Seems they did same work before putting that price. I have seen this listing before and thought "nice country - everyone has it's opportunity"

The answer is quite simple. They are selling worldwide without any limits in countries' list.
Studying the bay I came to the conclusion that I could buy needed things 1.5 - 2 times cheaper living in the US, because the offer there is over the demand. So the prices are being kept quite low for the US-shipped-only-items .
If there is a word "worldwide" the price rushes up.
The other point is that smb wants the cam very much and do not want to wait for another checking the bay on everyday basis and getting nervous on bidding for the needed item.
If one can spend there is one who will gain

kudos......arvay.
Unfortunately I know many people who have this mentality that if they have the money, they'll spend it without thinking twice if they could get a better deal. They tend to be the same kids I went to high school with who drove BMWs while I rode a bicycle. The same folks who are the "gotta have it now" type before everyone but in this case it's a little different considering the lynx is not new tech. But you know what I mean......

Yes, I understand, but I ment other people. Suppose the guy sits in his room watching the shelf with Yashicas standing in chronological order with empty space for Lynx.
Suppose he lives not in NY or elswhere in the US, but in...I don't know...In Russia (not to hurt anybody's feelings I took the example of my country) where the market is poor and prices are extremely high
That's the situation I thought of.

oh yeah you're absolutely right. You know I've always wondered about russian stuff, I've bought many times form people like biggerby and leonjazz and whatnot, they offer good prices for jupiters and feds and zorkis, Is it cheaper over there for the old cameras and lenses or more expensive?

For Russian cameras - no. But it's quite difficult to find one without ANY problem. All of them should be CLAd. When you are finding smth that like new and works like a swiss watches - it's a pure gem.

Do you mean same russians who used to sell gold or Nazi "Leicas" (you know that modded FSUs) to rich Leica enthusiasts in....I don't know...in America (not to hurt anyone of course)
Actually I doubt anyone in Russia raves about old Lynxes....it takes years of luxury to go back to simple things. And now people in post-Soviet countries mostly go for DSLRs, huge white lenses and such kind of stuff. Moretto says same for Croatia. I will not give my hand for this, but I'll speculate I'm probably only owner of Lynxes for 2 millions of residents in Latvia. Hope I'm wrong and see one here
As for price of this item - on any market there are offers over normal price tag. If some fish not knowing this hook swallow it's fine. If not, seller is living fine selling same stuff for normal price in normal volume.
EDIT: oops...just noticed that you Arvay are from Moscow...it's interesting if in Russia (well, Moscow isn't whole Russia, I know

No idea. I'm neither buyer of such fakes nor the producer. But if they are being sold - there is a bid for it

I 've recently spoken to the Zeiss dealer whom I bought my ZI and Sonnar at. They have a serious demand for ZM 85mm. The cost of it here is USD 3252 (at today' rate). Moreover, people eagerly buying sets of camera and few lenses at once for USD 6-8 kilos.
Do you think that professionals do this? I mean those who earning with photography? If yes you are wrong...

I know, famous Moscow's lifestyle. Knowing price tag on crappy Soviet era flats (btw I live in same, 602. series) in Moscow (not talking about newly built ones) I easily imagine people in BMW dealership paying in cash for X5 or buying small bunch of lenses for 7K u.e. because "nice to have and use". This isn't surprise for me. I just think people like mentioned don't buy cheap Lynx and rest are fond on DSLR with 28-200 zoom rather.
I'm not insist being right, in the end, you know Russia better and that's why I asked. To say, in US is whole layer of people using Lynxes, but I wonder if such noticeable layer is also in Russia.

All things have their niche, their buyer. If the thing is not being sold the buyer hasn't been born yet
I think there are people who will buy and probably use it. I can't even guess on motivation and I'm not going to judge on their mental condition but...Nobody's perfect
Speaking of me - I'm not it's buyer of it. I used to love GSN's before I bought my first Bessa R. But I'm not going back to fixed lens cam.
