Would you mind sharing some photos taken on the Contax G w 35mm at f2.0 only?

both: g2 + planar 35 wide open (handheld)

Perfect bokeh, surprisingly good sharpness wide open! The lens has been criticized by some as not being quite as sharp as their other primes (their published MTF also bore this out) but if the trade off is a gain of super creamy bokeh, I'll take the lens as it's shown by these sample images.

this lens is a good companion to the other G-lenses, if not being so sharp, esp. wide open;
I also have the 28 and I CAN see the difference of these lenses also when stopped to f/8. I normally use slide film. But every time when using the G I have both lenses with me und use both when the focal length of one of them is needed.
Sorry, no pics scanned with f/2

I use to own the G1 and the 28 Biogon. Sharpness is incredible but being a non-retrofocus orthodox symmetrical wide angle design (like the famous 38/4.5 Biogon for the Hasselblad), you'll need to stop down about 1 1/2 - 2 stops to tame some of the light fall off. Given the corner fall off will be a bit less with the Gauss designed 35 Planar, practically speaking, you're gaining more than a stop in usable performance. A 21/2.8 would be a better partner for the 35/2.
