Yikes! In an exchange of mails today with a flickr buddy, there were a few moments, when I was considering selling my much loved Leica M2. See Link.

Even my wife, who wonders about my collection of Bessas, Feds, a Kiev, Oly 35 RC... thought I was going "loco." Sell my M2?... No way, Hose!

I must admit that the thought had occurred to me some time last week. Currently I'm enjoying the freedom of using both eyes in using a TLR and I already have a DSLR.
But after finally getting around to scanning a long forgotten roll of film, I had a few keepers which convinced me to hold on to my M2. Purely emotional reason for holding on.

Mike,
Don't do it!!!! I have the same combo, in fact Raid has my Summaron 2.8 for his lens test as I write this.
However, if you ever really considered selling the M2...perhaps I could help you find a good home for it

back to basics
I did sell my M2 about 1,5 year ago I guess. Recently I got a replacement. It's such a wonderful machine...

I'd never sell my M3 and If I had an M2 I wouldn't sell that either!!

I still owe my dad £135 from the M2 purchase on his card.
I wouldn't sell mine. I have stripped myself of all but the Contax-II (since no-one will buy it for UK market prices) and the Leica M2.
That's my 35mm rf kit, and it isn't changing anytime soon

I sold the M2 on ebay a few days ago and took the money and bought a M5 so yes I would sell if it were to buy another camera.

In the last 5 years i have sold ONE M2 (and bought at least 5!). The sold M2 was virtually mint and I had a friend who was visibly salivating over it. I did give one as a 50th birthday present to another friend and as that reduced my 'stash" to 13 M2's i promptly bought another one, less pristine to avoid unlucky 13! I know, I could have disposed of one more and end up with 12, but selling one and giving one away was a soul wrenching moment as it was!

Colyn, you need to change your signature now...
@Tom: Never thought it was possible to own that many M2s...

If I could afford an MP, I would be so happy to buy this camera; but even for an MP I wouldn't sell or exchange my M2.

Tom,
I have a birthday coming up, and I only have one very lonely M2.

If I had a M2 theres no way I would sell it. It seems that after you sell something remorse sets in. And when you decide to get another to replace it, you either end up paying more, or not getting one quite as nice as the one you sold. I do have a FED 2 & a Zorki 2c and neither is for sale.

Isn't it a SIN to have 14 M2s sitting on a shelf & not in someones hands?

i'm sick of old cameras.!
(packing two for repair as i type)

The best camera is one that still works!
Of all the cameras I may have to sell to fund my credit card rehabilitation program ... after my M8 insanity splurge ... the M2 is not even a remote consideration!

I agree, and since alleviating yourself of one will get you back down to that bad number 13 again, I am willing to help out to make that a 12.
