i'm doing yet another eval of my r4 kit and wondering how many would try to use a cv 75 on the r4.
i'm attracted to the 75 as i seemed to use it quite a bit when i had the r and 35/75 combo as a kit and also that i don't use my 90 very much on the zi.
i previously bought a cv 75 finder with the thought of eventually getting the 75 lens but now i am having doubts.

opinions welcome.

35 & 75 make a perfect pair. I love those two lenses together. But I wouldn't use a 75 or even a 50 on the R4. I would carry two bodies with a 35 on one and 75 on the other.

i did quite like the 35/75 pairing when i had it.
but i don't really want another body and i do have the zi with 85 framelines already and i just found out my 90 is a (near) sonnar.

more thought is required.

peter, i'm hoping the 50 works well on the r4 as i just ordered the cv 50/2.5 from stephen.

The 75 is a very nice FL to carry around. The R4 is obviously a little wide for focussing with the 50 and 75, but I have bought the megaperls viewpiece 1.33x magnifier, and it helps to extend the rangefinder base, and is very helpful for using a 50mm too. As a matter of fact I find this eyepiece ideal for the R3, where the 75 almost fills the vision and the 90 frames become really big. A very useful addition to any Bessa or ZI.

Here you go, Joe: get an eyepiece and you are back to "normal" EBL.
Should be very useful since the physical BL is the same as for the
other Bessas.

The Heliar is a great lens. 35/75 was a great small combo on my
recent trip. You've used it before and liked it.

And keep the Hexanon in your ZI kit, it fits the C-Sonnar too well 🙂

Cheers,

Roland.

Wow Joe,
I think you will have EVERY item in both - CV and ZI lines. Hope you will find time to use them all. 😉

i started this thread with the idea of selling the 75 finder i have and now i'm back to thinking the 75 lens is a good idea.

but the idea i had in getting the r4 was to work on my wide angle shots and it seemed the perfect camera for the job. adding a 75 contradicts my original thinking.
and i do have a fine 90 for use with the zi.
after ordering the 50/2.5 for the r4 kit (to have a complete set to match the framelines) the 75 started to crawl into my brain again but now seems like a dopey idea.
perhaps there will be a finder in classifieds tonight...

I really want the 75 too, but I wouldn't use it on the r4. I think I would like to get one of those megaperil eyepieces though. With one I would give a 50 a try on the 4.

I've got a 75 Heliar, and I really do like it. But I wouldn't use it on my R4A, mainly because I've tried accessory viewfinders for long lenses before and parallax is a problem I just can't deal with - I need a parallax-corrected vf. I only use the 75 on my M6 (previously on an R, but that was sold to help pay for the R4A). But even on the M6 I find the 75 frame a bit too small for comfortable use - I'm thinking that sometime in the future I may get an R3 or an M3.

R3a and the f2.5 75 is a match made in heaven
