Rich did the same thing when the CV 35/2.5 Pancake 1 was discontinued. The lens went from $189 to $219 to something higher than that (don't remember exactly). Just the laws of economics at work I suppose, discontinued supply+steady demand=higher price.

That is for sure. I wonder if there is concern about how successful the new cameras will be?

Interesting that Rich is still listing the R2 on his website for $499. I suspect that he is having trouble selling his remaining stock or that he just wants to clear them quickly. I expect that he is looking to ebay as an alternative market. $549 is listed as the "buy it now" price, but it may well sell for less than even the $499 store retail price.
