Wow, big flickr change...

Found it! That's just the Flickr home page, rather than my page. 😱

The main panel shows my contacts' photos - at the moment the first photo is one of Tom Abrahamsson's (actually one of Tuulikki's) color photos, then Gene, Helen, Joe, Sanders, Jan, Marek, Ralph, even sparrow_rf! It's like a RFF meeting!

Unlikely. Most people seem to be too busy saying how much they hate change to work out how to use the new design.

Exactly!!!!

If they would stop complaining and actually try to work with it they just might be able to find ways to customize it..

I suspect Flickr will release new layouts to choose from soon..

I use Flickr to backup my photos and that is about it. I keep 99% private, so Yahoo can't use, or distribute my photos. The UI is secondary to me and the new iteration requires a small learning curve and I'll be back to using Flickr. I'll keep my Pro account to avoid the 1TB limit.

The change-over has happened whilst I'm in another country, so away from my home broadband provider's cable and national wifi coverage. Using a Nexus 7 tablet with pay-as-you-go mobile simcard, logging on gobbles-up mega-$$ :bang:
... and I see no advantage for me in the new Flickr when I return home to large screen and fast, plentiful data. 😡

Just found this on the Flickr blog.

Has anyone worked out how to apply this layout?

... that's the "Groups" page layout ... you can't have that on your photo-stream page

I like it so far. Can one still view the exif data of photos?

Yes. First select the pic you want to see the data for.

Scroll down to see the "Additional Info"

Click on the "(see more)" beside "Additional Info".

Then click on the block of exposure settings - that should open a screen with the full exif, if you uploaded that with the image.

This sometimes works for other people's images too, unless they have restricted that (each user can restrict display of exif to the user only).

When I first saw it I loathed it - mainly as my web page was plastered all over with bloody adverts. This tee'd me off especially as I am a pro member. But it seemed to be a glitch which fixed itself after a couple of days. Once that was done I liked it a whole lot more. Now I can say I don't mind it for the most part. It is a little glitchy still - sometimes pages will not open for example even though I have reasonably fast broadband.

And there is one thing I have noticed that I specifically do not like - stats on each image and the aggregate stats for photostream were visible on the main page. Now you need to go into each image to see the stats on it and you have to go to the stats page for info about aggregate views. I much prefer being able to see how much activity I have had right where it counts. I hate having to click about unnecessarily because of poor site design.

Before, I needed the pro account just to have access to all of my photos and to place the photos in the right groups. Today I deactivated the pro account and it's all there what I need. Hopefully it will not look too bad when they start with ads.

Tom, do you see stats and can you replace picture? I think, this goes away in free account.

Considering doing same thing but still not sure yet, how worse it will be with ads.

Don't know about the stats, didn't need them. But I saw the option 'replace photo' and could click on it (didn't try it but I think it would work).

Edit: tried to replace a photo. Worked!
