WOW! "New" Kodak Portra 400...

This thread is useless with out pics! :)

:) Here are three from my first roll of 35mm. Made very nice 10.5 by 7 inch prints. They've lost a little sharpness in dounsizing, but they give a fair impression. Not much grain at that size either.

The only thing that worries me about Kodak's current line up is that both Ektar 100 and Portra 400 are so good that they may decide they don't ever need to improve them.

Of course, films can always be improved. But the sales 'suits' don't always understand that. In my opinion Kodak took a wrong turn when they didn't appoint Carl Kohrt to run the company in 2000 or whenever it was.

True, but Ektar 100 and the continuing improvements to Portra 400 haven't been motivated by sales to still shooters, but are more a welcome byproduct of R&D for motion-picture stock. So long as Hollywood keeps putting movies on film, we might see further improvements in color neg films down the line.

Very likely so. Insh'Allah.

Here's some from a recent series I shot on 35mm Portra 400. The film has much of the 'look' that Ektar gives but with a lot less contrast. The grain is also excellent for a 35mm film, for all intents and purposes very low for a 35mm film. I might have more to add soon.

All shot on an Olympus OM2n with either a Zuiko 28mm f/3.5 or 50mm f/1.8 MIJ (don't think I used the 100mm on these):

These are mostly just crops, sharpen ups and exports, a couple have had slight tweaks in colour but these are pretty much straight scans.
