79% cosmetics! Wow, now if it had been 79.5% cosmetics, it would have been more.
Ridiculous. I wonder if someone thought this was a Noctilux 50/1.2 and missed the "Canon" on it.

My M5s need red dots!
I consider myself quite lucky in that I paid only $400 for mine... with original hood included. And the seller was nice enough to send me photographs he made with that lens and an Epson RF. BTW, mine was very, extremely well cared for.
Oh, well... some time ago I saw a fellow offering a Nikon N80 with the kit zoom lens for about as much as those cameras costed new: $400. They can be had for a pittance now (between $80 and $120).
BTW, apparently, it's sold.

That's really me
It seems flashing borders and colorful text helps boost ebay prices. I need to do that next time I sell something.

I have ever seen it gone for higher that US$762 once on ebay. Can't figure it out either. It wasn't even a all black version too. Nevertheless, any lens is worth as much as a buyer is willing to pay for it.

The trick with FleaBray is that when the price is insane, don't bid. Unfortunately, there's often someone who does, and that influences the next few auctions. And there's all those exhortations from the site to bid now and bid more so you won't lose out...

I love the insane prices some people charge for some things, I wonder how they justify such prices. On the other hand, I sell a lot of items on eBay, and though I start my auctions at a low price, these high BIN prices seem to increase the prices I get for my goods.
I sell a lot on eBay, but I don't buy camera equipment there, it's often stupidly overpriced. In many cases, I find gear selling on eBay for more than it's new prices in the stores; how and why people do that is still beyond me.

The best camera is one that still works!
I bought mine from Dante Stella at a very fair price a couple of years ago and have noticed a slow but steady climb in the prices since then.
It's an ikonic lens warts and all and will likely keep increasing in value IMO!

Don't know, looks like a bit of shill-bidding has been going on here. The buyer (I don't want to call him "winner") b***b is an unexperienced eBayer with only 33 items, desperately wanting the lens and starts bidding at a decent price of $261. He bids up till $451. Then a***s comes in with his first bid of $100 more. b***b bites and a***s bids him up a bit more after $550. Mind you, a***s has only two deals on eBay and registered just a day ago.

eBay's fees on BIN are ridiculous. Part of the higher price that sellers want includes eBay's cut to the purchase price. Other people just try and take advantage of people who need something ASAP.
Also, HuubL, I wouldn't say that 33 items is inexperienced. I have had my eBay account for 11 years, 315 items total. Say that guy's just joined up. At my pace, he'd have been eBaying over a year.

True, the number of items doesn't say much on the time one's dealt on eBay. I myself have only 61 items and been a member since four years
But biting that hook with eyes wide open definitely means he's inexperienced!

and then their times where a decent M4 goes for a $500
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190381564558&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT
or a M4-P goes for $425
http://cgi.ebay.com/LEICA-M4-P_W0QQ...ViewItemQQptZFilm_Cameras?hash=item414e2e036b
Though I find it odd how many M6's are up for sale for well over $1200 when you can get a EX level M6 from KEH right now with better warranty for about $1250. Go figure.

You think that is bad, you should see this: eBay item# 220577874767
A Canon 50/.095 for $2100, and it actually has a bidder. I found one last week attached to a Canon 7 camera (in black, no less) for nearly half what this guy is asking for just the lens.

Truth is beauty
Contrary to all this, I saw the lens I want to try (but in silver, the CV 28 3.5) show a fair price on ebay a couple of days ago: after two bids only, the winner got it for $255, and there were no new bids at all during the last days... Totally quiet final minutes... Not much interest around, I guess...

Were do you see the bidder a***s is registered only a day ago?
You must have some special computer or connection to ebay that nobody else in the world has.
If he registered a day ago how does he have 2 deals already?

To a certain extent with our wonderful economy we're much closer to a buyer's market at this point. That doesn't mean that that sellers won't push prices as much as they can. After all, you can see a similar camera that just sold to the one you're about to sell take it's price and price yours slightly higher as starting bid.
That having been said, I scored a Canon 50mm 1.4 ltm about weeks ago for a decent price on ebay.

How about an E58 Nocti for $5,800 USD that's not even coded?
I was watching that one too! The silver one, yes? It sat low for a spell, then went to $222 and finally about $255. I have interest, but I want a black one!
I was watching a 2,5/50 Color Skopar also, in black - but it got a bit expensive and I lost interest in the mean time. Heh. I'm not convinced it's any smaller than my 1,5/50 Sonnar ZM (perhaps smaller diameter).

So where's the outrage every time someone uses the term "bokeh king" for a 35 Summicron and asks $1,500 for it?

What the market will bear....
I once saw a Pentax K mount Cosina 55mm f1.2 lens go for over $1,000! with multiple bidders even. They normally go for <$350 or so.
Thinking.. hmmm.. I have a Pentax-A 50/1.2 and this Cosina and want to buy an M2/M4/M6 - time to sell the Cosina.
Well, the market will bear only $350 for me :bang:
One sale does not mean that's what the current market value is. It just means that somebody wanted it more that day/time.

If all sellers on a item start to put higher minimums, then you have an artificial way of raising prices on an item on a auction site.
The market should include buyer's input after all.
The market should include buyer's input after all.
^ Granted, and to be expected. That's how we figure out "what the market will bear" so to speak and wise in the art of selling. But sometimes, a price on something just leaves you scratching your head and walking away altogether... Especially if it's an opening bid. On a forum at least, you can always PM and haggle.
