Wow, the Nikon F6 is still in production!

So's the Canon EOS 1v. Looks like a "last man standing" contest. ;)

Nice to see there's a market for both of 'em. Of course, they were always relatively low-production numbers compared to, say, the F-100/EOS-3 et al.

Even though I don't "do" SLRs anymore...

Putting on pedant's hat here ....

Actually, it does not mean the F6 is still in production (though it may well still be).

What it does mean is that Nikon still has F6 inventory in their warehouse.

Nikon only announces a product as discontinued after production has stopped and after all their inventory has left the warehouse.

You keep saying that. I think your resolve is slipping! Reminds me of the Queen's response to Hamlet: "The lady doth protest too much, methinks."
Nah...I have a donated Olympus OM-2n for those odd "slips" of resolve, which I basically use as an ersatz view camera anyway (Sigma 21-35 zoom almost permanently mounted on it). But really, I've had one hell of a 25-some-odd-year dalliance with all sorts of SLR gear, from most of the majors, and the things are truly "out of my system." To badly paraphrase Ian Tyson, if the SLR was my mistress, my true love is RF. :D

OK, this is the first Ian Tyson reference I've seen on RFF. He is one of my idols; Barrett you never cease to surprise me!

P.S. The HCB video was brilliant; thanks x 10,000.

In a previous lifetime, when I was dealing in high-end audio, a colleague turned me on to Tyson's Cowboyography. I've been a fan ever since. (For those not in the loop, he's the Ian of Ian and Sylvia fame, before heading back to his home of Alberta and living the cowboy life–for real–and singing about it).

Glad you liked it. Always worth a re-viewing.

A list price of 362250 YEN? That's $3800 USD!!!

A near new EOS 1VHS with 16 rolls of film through it was recently sold at a very reputable store with limited warranty for $700 AUD!!! Being a canon SLR user, I simply cannot miss the opportunity to own the top of the line SLR :)

:)

Current price at B&H is $1999.00. It is tempting to buy one just for use with long lenses; but the problem is, if I bought a F6, I'd be compelled to buy a 300/2.8 or 400/2.8.

The price of the camera is cheap. The price of the glass is what kills me.
