Wrist Strap Recommendations

The best wrist strap I've tried is the one from my Beaulieu 4008 Super-8 camera. I have several straps from various Super-8 cameras, but the Beaulieu's the nicest. Real leather, with a chrome-plated, knurled screw to fasten it to the baseplate. I, too, would be a little leery of holding a heavy M body/lens combo by one lug. They're just pressed into the body housing! 😱

Check the 'bargain' box at your local camera store, if you have one. They're usually a good source for things like this.

Sorry about the life issues Gordy. That's got to be tough.

I think maybe the reason I want the strap longer is because I want to use it on my left hand and still have sloppy room for my hand to move and focus.
I'll have to get a piece of string on the thing and decide how long is long enough.

I've been behind on my email. I've been dealing with an Alzheimer's mother-in-law and sometimes I have to let some things slide.

I can make my straps longer. I can do it on a custom basis and if we are only talking a couple of inches there wouldn't be an extra charge. Just make a note in the comments page on checkout.

I would like to know if those with my straps think they should be a little longer? I can start making them a little longer if that works better for everyone.

Wrist strap on the right hand or left hand? That's a good question. I use my right hand for my 35mm cameras and left hand for my medium format cameras. That's generally because I hold my 35mm cameras with my right hand and focus with my left. I hold my medium format cameras with my left hand and focus with my right. My medium format cameras also need to have speeds and aperture set from from the front or right side. Having the right hand free makes it easier. On my 35mm cameras the right hand only has to hold the camera, press the shutter release, and adjust speeds, which is well within the range of motion with the wrist strap on.

I have a couple Gordy's and will likely order a couple more soon.

Gordon, I have my straps on my LTM/smaller RF cameras. My first impression was that it could be a little longer. But, as they have broken in more the length isn't as big of a deal. I could very easily be very happy with one of your straps slightly longer, and I am happy with them as they are now.
