Well upon stumbling across this site, i knew i struck gold. I'm a professional Photography student in Santa Barbara, and I really want to jump into the world of rangefinders.
I was going to sell both of my Canon EOS 3s to have enough money to get an RF. i was really considering the Voigtlander Bessa R3a ( and i still am) but the more and more i am thinking about it. I WANT A MAMIYA!! i currently shoot on an RZ67. I love the 6x7 format, but i read a review about the mamiya 6 that really made me like it. (plus it's black)
can you guys point me in the right direction? and also let me know of any for sale?

I just PM'ed you, but if you want to check out a Mamiya 7II, I am right near by and if you want we could meet up and you can try mine out at the wharf or the courthouse or something.

My 6 is the easiest camera to use I've owned. So far the lenses seem great but I haven't tried the 150.
If I wanted to buy another one I'd probably hang out here and look for other members wanting to get rid of them. If you look at Ebay I'd stick to larger stores with return policies.

I wish the 7 had a collapsable lens. Ah well.

You have good taste.
I actually started out with a Bessa R2 2 years ago. It's a great little camera, it feels like it should be way more expensive than it is and the lenses are sharp and cheap. I have a 3 lens setup now and have been overseas a few times with it. It's awesome.
I also finally bit the bullet and recently bought a mamiya 6. I do love the bessa, but if you're even thinking it, just go for the M6. MF is a whole different world and the M6 is almost like a larger Bessa or Leica. It's also $$, so I wouldn't bother spending the extra cash on both systems. Just go for the high end now. And hey, if you change your mind, you can always resell it for what you paid if you go the ebay route. There's always a market for the M rangefinders. (Less so for the bessas since you can get a new one so cheaply.)

I bought a Mamiya 6 recently after borrowing one from a friend for a trial. No regrets at all. It makes a great alternative in terms of shooting style from my other camera, a Canon 20D.
Might be a good idea to buy from a seller who'll give a warranty. I discovered a light leak which turned out to be a hole in the bellows. KEH agreed to pay for me to get it repaired locally, since I'm in Switzerland and shipping both ways would have cost $90-100. Check out http://www.keh.com

Well it's come down to this:
its either a Mamiya 7/7II(Black)
or a Bronica RF645
i would prefer the mamiya, but price is my deciding factor right now.

Everything Mamiya is tremendously cheaper outside the U.S. You might see if you can find a Hong Kong dealer like Joseph Yao who could help you. That should save you considerably. Also, used is always a good option.
