X-E2 EVF behaviors. It's normal, right?

Sorry for making a one-off question thread. I tried to search here and elsewhere but couldn't find an answer.

So I just got X-E2. It's my 3rd Fuji after X100 and X-Pro1, and so far I'm loving it.

Now the question:

When EVF turns on for the first time after the camera power turned on, I see a white horizontal line/band at the top edge of the view for a split second right when the rest of the image is showing up. I see same white light at the same location when I'm switching back to shooting mode from playback mode as well. In other operations where EVF switches functions, I may see that light for very very short amount of time or I just miss it (or not happening) entirely.

The white part doesn't look like a noise or flickering. It just looks like a strong white light from top edge when EVF is activated. It shows for the longest amount of time (still a split second) when I turn on the camera while looking through the EVF.

It is not that annoying or anything, but I just wanted to make sure that this is an expected behavior for this camera. Can anyone with X-E2 (or E1?) chime in?

I see all-white screen when EVF is activated sometimes as well, but this one I've read people seeing it normally under certain circumstances (haven't really figured out yet).

Thanks for your input in advance!

I have the same thing on my X-E1, never noticed until I looked for it. Never had an all white screen while EVF activated though.

Sounds like that top edge white band is a normal behavior then?

The all white screen is more like the screen briefly overexposed, then quickly readjust when EVF is turned on. Note that I've only used the camera with a legacy lens via adapter.

I could not remember ever seeing the white line or the white out one. So I just did a quick test on my xe1 w/ both the 27 pancake and a vc ais 40f2 on a speedbooster adapter.

I could only c/ the white line issue occasionally, maybe 3-4 times out of something close to 30 tries between the two lenses and never the white out issue.

I have had my xe1 for almost 7 months b&w, so far no problems.

Good luck
Gary

On my original-bought-new XE1, yep, it shows--just a blink. AND on the second body I just got from jsrockit in a trade.

So no worries. Until you actually have a breakdown which God forbid etc etc!

Ah thanks guys. Looks like case closed. Nothing to worry about.

I had X100 which I sold to get M8. I had X-Pro1 which I sold to get M9. I feel I'm ready to commit to the system now, especially with the lens instant-rebate coming right up. For now, my legacy lenses and adapters will do just fine.

Thanks again.

I thought the Sony a7r was going to be your legacy glass platform?

Anyway have fun w/ the Fuji. It is really a great camera system.
