X-Pan 90mm For 4/3 Digital Macro

Interesting... I would have never thought to adapt an xpan lens to 4/3s. How does it differ from other 90s on a 4/3 camera?

seems to me like it's slower and larger than other 90's.

It's the same length as my Tamron SP 90mm f2.5 and about 200g lighter. At f4 it is slower but I mostly use f8 or f11 for macro. It won't give the same magnification as the Tamron. The Tamron 90 gives 1:1 and the X-Pan plus the Marumi x3 supplementary gives about 1:1.1, both at about the same working distance (about 10"/25cm).

At a typical cost of £450, the X-pan is not a likely choice as an alternative to the Tamron or other MF 90mm lenses for macro work but perhaps worth considering if you own it and no other macro lens.

Of course, micro 4/3 has a short flange to sensor distance, allowing some MF lenses and adapters to be used, which other digital SLRs, etc. may not.

I hope this is of some interest.

Thanks Harold,
I have a Xpan 90 and an EP1 and I've never had a near 1:1 macro setup so it could be interesting to play around with...
