I have a confession.

Over the years, I've seen innumerable (i.e., big bunches of) images where folks gripe about soft corners, purple haze, LSD flashbacks, dark shadows, blown highlights, color splotches, noise, and sundry and miscellaneous image poopage.

..and I almost NEVER see what the HELL they are talking about!!

To be honest, I did consider it...but I kinda wanted all the odd, fiddly bits that are found in the XP1 menus.

That's a suitable reply as far as I'm concerned. But if I absolutely had to use M mount lenses I would buy a M9. I don't believe M mount lenses are necessary to reach my objectives, so the Fuji systems work for me. Otherwise I'd be lugging a DSLR with a prime lens around every day.
 
I really don't understand the difficulty with manual focusing Leica or other non-fuji lenses on xp1.

The only tricky thing to focus are wide angle lenses wide open, like my industar 28mm.

I have so far put on Minolta MD lens, Nikon F-Mount, Canon EOS mount, Pentacon 6(via couple of adapters), Leica screwmount and Leica M-Mount lenses. I have not had an issue with focusing.

Focus peaking would be nice, but not a must.

CV 40mm f1.4 and Industar 28mm are my two favorite manual lens to put on my xp1. The CV is very sharp, maybe as sharp as the fuji 35mm f1.4. Industar is not sharp, but it has its own look and feel, I like it. It makes me stop obsessing over if my images are sharp, and really look at the images I shot instead.

Oh Canon 100mm L f2.8 worked great on the xp1, only I wish there is a way to change aperture.

thats a joke, right?? the intro of the m8 was a freaking fiasco, when withiut telling anyone they released a $3500 camera that couldnt properly render BLACK! cmon man!

It took awhile to get adapted to MF with legacy lenses on the XP1, but with practice it becomes easier. My favorites so far are the Contax G 45 mm Planar, Contax C/Y 28mm, and the Konica Hexanon AR 50mm f/1.7.

The adapter (I'm using the Fotodiox version) has a built-in focusing ring. Alternative (probably better) is to have the lens converted to M mount and use an LM to FX adapter ring.
 
Does anyone have any photos of any lens 28mm or less? I didn't get very good results with my Kipon M adapter and my CV 15mm or my Zeiss 25mm.

Here is one with the Contax C/Y 28mm f/2.8 Distagon. My M mount wides also do not look great in the corners and edges, but SLR wides are better.

I am also interested in the performance of longer LTM/M mount lenses on the X-Pro 1. Specifically it would be nice to hear any user experience with these lenses in the 75-90 mm range + the Voigtländer 50/1.1.

Has any used a nikon to X adapter?
I have several large boxes of old Nikon glass that hardly get used since I got rid of most of my DSLRs, it would be nice to try the 85 1.4 or the 35 PC on the XP1..

Lasse - I have used an old Elmar 90 f4 lens with great results, and an really battered Culminar (?) 85 2.8 that is now stuck wide open. Both were far easier to use (framing and Focusing) on the XP than I have ever managed on my Ms... Bad eye sight, and shaky hands...

Thanks for clearing that up. I've only seen the Kipon G-X-Pro adapters, which lack a focus ring (I guess only good for infinity).

Thank you, those Elmars are easy to find and good lenses.

Anyone tried one of the Voigtländer 75's, Leica 75 Summilux/Summicron, or 90 Summicron?

Yes, I've used the older CV 75mm f/2.5 on the XP1. Works just fine.
 
I tried the Kipon Nikon->X adapter. It works well. I only have one Nikon, the 50mm f1.2, and it seems to work quite well.
