Fujifilm should choose better "candidates" to test out their cameras: i.e amateurs, professionals, semi professionals...

anyway, here's another one of their "phenomenon" I encountered

Youtube link 32seconds video

X-Pro 1 hot-shoe triggers the wireless transmitter when the shutter is half pressed or depressed while the motion sensor is active. It also triggers the transmitter when the motion sensor is activated or deactivated.

Note: this does not occur when the flash is actually mounted on the hot shoe. so I assume the sensor and shutter created a tiny current in the circuitry of the X-Pro 1, that passes through the shoe mount thus activating the transmitter. The transmitter which would be more sensitive than the actual flash.

This wireless system has been used without hiccup on the X100 and 5D mk II

Interesting. I'd be curious to know what percentage of users will actually be concerned with this.

on RFF ? probably 1%

I already read about that problem somewhere else, so I"m not the only one. raising awareness is the only way I/We can hope for a fix.

thanks for your constructive criticism... and I know I"m welcome

My question is more about how many X-Pro1 owners do / will use the camera that way. Not saying anything is right or wrong, just interested in knowing. My perception has been that some would not. I liken this to video, I'd never buy this camera with the intention of shooting video, just not the right tool, IMHO.

Have you tried this with Pocket Wizards? I have seen weird problems with off-brand radio transmitters that disappear when using Pocket Wizards. (Mind you, my experience is limited to the Nikon D200 & Leica M4)

WTF difference does that make...

It's simply wrong and it needs to be disclosed as a bug. How unconcerned are people going to be about these mistakes on a "close to $2000" camera????

Not arguing here, kuzano. Just interested in knowing how many people will use the camera in that way. Perfectly legitimate question.

I'm not pointing at anyone on this thread nor am I calling out any users in particular when I say there's been a steady stream of complaints about this camera. After a while it gets old.

Hmm... You're using chinese wireless triggers? I can say that my x100 100% work perfectly with elinchrom skyport triggers, no 'premature' flash at all.

Questions:
- Has it been tried with pocketwizards/skyports/alien bee triggers?
- Did you set the external flash to 'ON' in the menu before this?

Worse than a bug....

Worse than a bug....

This is likely a design failure in the hardware! And yes, a lot of folks will get burned by this, including me. I do NOT do street photography, but landscapes and high speed humming bird shots where I DO use a transmitter to talk to my set of remote flash units!

This is a bad issue...

Good find! Thanks...

Likewise, not pointing fingers at you...

Just don't understand the rationalizing and attempts to justify continuing purchases of Fuji NON rangefinders, after the faux pas' evident in the last model or two. How long can Fuji continue to raise prices, and not deliver product as marketed.

Makes one wonder about the marketplace clamoring for these mistakes.

So the x10 had the white orbs... What is the horrible failure in the x100? Xpro1?

The sensationalism gets old. Brand loyalty is for suckers... The opposite is just as true.

Judging from recent Internet history and other camera bugs at launch, I expect the number of people using this feature will grow exponentially once word leaks out on the photo forums.

... after the faux pas' evident in the last model or two ...

Can you please elaborate? I'm not up on this subject.

I own the X100 and have been very happy with the camera. Curious to know what if any issues people have found. Am new to the X-Pro1 having purchased it in the last week.

Also wondering about reality. Many posts I've read (not referring to this thread) have made statements about the X-Pro1 that suggest unrealistic expectations, some even comparing it to the M9, which in my mind is absurd. Seriously, if Fujifilm could match quality of the M9 at less than 1/3 the price then Leica would be screwed.

Thanks

It just seems odd to me. If that were the way I wanted to shoot the X-Pro1 would NOT be the camera I would buy. That's why I'm scratching my head.

I just tried my Xpro1 with my triggers and could not reproduce the false flashes that the OP had. The only time the flash went off was when the shutter button was fully pressed, as it is supposed to.
