Good day community! Gave a little break for my Leica M4 :)

I'm became an owner of X-Pro2 for a week with 35 1.4, 56 1.2 APD and 18-55 2.8 lenses.

In next few days this little gem will be my primary camera and you can ask me whatever you want. I try to do my best.

P.S. Your questions can help me on my work because I will have better understanding what users expect from X-Pro2.

Interesting experience for you and interesting for us to know your thoughts .
Personally I'm curious to know about AF speed in low light like interiors and easy of use with manual focus lenses, M type into case.
Thanks in advance, robert

Previat, Georgiy. Your impressions re lowlight AF performance, high iso file quality, and the EVF in use would be appreciated.

It would be great if you could tell us how the OVF with the EVF patch feels with manual lenses when compared to the M4.

Thanks Georgiy!

Hi Georgiy

Lucky you!

I would be very interested in your views on the viewfinder. I don't know if you have used the X-Pro1, but one frustration I have with it, is that I find the viewfinder rather small (especially compared to my Olympus OM1!). Strangely I find the X100T viewfinder OK although I don't think it is any larger that the one in the X-Pro1.

Look forward to your thoughts

Richard

Any chance you have the X Pro 1 set for the wrong magnification finder? Hold the view finder lever over and it will change magnification of the finder.

Shawn

Love to know how you feel about using M lenses in OVF mode. Reasonably useable?

Yup, certainly want to know how the OVF + small EVF mode works with adapted lenses.

Also what happens if you try the digital rangefinder mode with adapted lenses?

Thanks,

Shawn

I've got the correct magnification Shawn, I just meant I find the size of the whole viewfinder rather small

My head today is fresh and I can share with you what I think about X-Pro2 from the box. First of all I must say that I have a little time with X-Pro1 camera.

In comparsion between the two X-Pro2 have hundred points ahead. The engineers did a great job. I spent 3 hours today on a cold and fell in love with camera. Honestly. Body feels more solid, not like an empty plastic box.

I really really like film simulation, especially KodakChrome and Acros. The new grain feature is also looks promising but for better understanding I must work on it a little.

AF speed is fast, yes. Not so fast as in DSLR but damn fast. More work on it also. For almost dark situations (like one small lamp on a kitchen) X-Pro2 uses very bright AF assist lamp. It bad for candid shots I must say :) I turned it off and try with manual focus. Without a lamp it almost hit-n-miss game.

Tomorrow I'll try the camera with a telephoto lens.

How easy is it to bump and shift the exposure compensation dial? I do that on my X100T a fair amount. Either with my hand of bumping it on things. I also think it happens a lot as I pull it out of my pocket.

That and the eye relief for glasses wearers.

The use of the front and rear knobs for adjustments.

The implementation of the joystick for AF point selection.

Of course IQ.

is autofocus speed improved with the 35/1.4? is it quick in low light (at EV 3)? with the camera oriented horizontally, how fast can you go from a full length portrait to a half length portrait at EV 5? how about when the camera is oriented vertically? how about with the 18-55mm?

does face detect work in ovf mode, or the mode with the electronic "rangefinder spot" in the corner? or does it only work in evf mode?

how good is af-c when you are standing still and people are walking by you, when the 18-55mm is at 18mm and 23mm settings? how about when you are walking backwards?

in terms of 13x19 prints, how much noise is there in low light (EV 2-3) at iso 1600, 3200, and 6400? is there banding in the shadows?

how many stops of highlight recovery do you get at iso 200, 400, and 800?

when focusing manually, do the framelines adjust for parallax and field size as you turn the focusing ring?

Oh yes! Please, tell us about (low light) AF, high ISO quality and the viewfinder. :)

Is the 35mm f1.4 still as slow and noisy as reported with other cameras?

Never believe reports by other people if you don't know them.

My 1.4/35 is not at all "slow and noisy", neither on my X-E2 nor on my X-T1.

But then, you don't know me either. :D

Georgiy,
I have the X-Pro1. Things I'm looking forward to with the X-Pro2 are: 24Mp, better dynamic range, diopter adjustment, better grip. But one thing I can't find any information about: Is the X-Pro2 shutter quieter? Thanks.
