X-Pro 2 in my hands

I have the X-Pro1. Things I'm looking forward to with the X-Pro2 are: 24Mp, better dynamic range, diopter adjustment, better grip. But one thing I can't find any information about: Is the X-Pro2 shutter quieter? Thanks.

I can answer on your last question. All people who I asked for said me that they didn't notice sound from X-Pro2 from mechanical shutter. However Fuji put also electronic shutter for very fast shutter speeds and you can actualy use it with or without mechanical shutter. Electronic shutter doesn't emit any noise. So, yes, X-Pro2 can be silent camera.

Diopter adjustment also works but I can't tell you how effectively. I have a good vision.

I shot an X-Pro 2 at Fuji's headquarters today, and enjoyed it very much. One of the things I really liked was the ISO dial being located on the shutter speed dial, just like the Minolta SRT series, you simply lift up on the dial to change ISO. No buttons or menus to sift through.

Changing focus points is easy there is a toggle on the back, press it with your thumb, and move the toggle to the point you want, very nifty. Dual memory card slots are cool.

AF speed and operation were about the same as my X100T. Frame lines on the optical viewfinder seemed more accurate than on my X-Pro 1.

The lens that was on the camera I shot was the 35/2, which reminded me much of a Summicron in appearance, and looks at home on the camera.

I didn't get a chance to do much shooting, I had my baby daughter with me, and couldn't hang out too long. I'll go back tomorrow or the next day and borrow one for the afternoon.

The electronic shutter can be a useful tool. At the same time gratuitous use of the ES should be avoided.

People should be aware it is a rolling ES. This means subject and, or even camera motion can cause odd distortions. On another forum (which will not be named) there is a weekly post from new owners who set their Fujifilm camera shutter mode to auto (the camera decides between MS or ES). Or they use ES to save wear and tear on the MS. Or they use it because it's new and cool.

These questions always take the form of: "My new lens is defective as it occasionally has terrible distortions. Has this happened to anyone else and did you send your lens in for a warranty replacement?"

I have a question on the OVF:
I own a XP1 with 2 magnification levels for the OVF: 0.35 and 0.6.
From all the info I read on the net, I get the impression that the XP2 has just 1 level of magnification: 0.6.
This is a big downer for me since this could mean that both my 14mm and 56 mm are not good usable with the OVF.
Could you please try the 18-55 on different focal length in the OVF and report back if it is usable?

I read on a site that shall not be named the X-Pro 2's OVF switches from 0.38 to 0.60 magnification when the lens focal length is longer than 35 mm.

Anything over the 35mm I mount on the XT1 because from 56mm the focus rectangle is way to small . . .

Don't worry. X-Pro2 have 2 magnification levels for OVF. I was confused first time also 🙂 Optical viewfinder is perfect for 28,35,50 mm lenses.

At the end of the video when you compare it to the M4, is the size difference as much as it appears in the video? Also what where the focal lengths of the frame marks?

Frame marks for focal length starts from 28mm in X-Pro2. When I compared viewfinders I attached Fujinon XF 35mm F1.4 lens on Fuji and activate 50mm frames on M4. Leica has got bigger OVF for sure.
