X-Pro1 EVF + New Zoom Lenses

At first, I was thinking that the newly announced zooms would be a nice addition to my X-Pro1. All the advantages of a Visoflex without the disadvantages. But my experience with the rather dim viewing through the EVF contrasted to the bright OVF viewfinder has me wondering if that's the way to go.

Maybe Nikon D5100 or D3200 + tele zoom would give a respectable quality while maintaining bright viewing and quick AF. I would use the X-Pro1 for standard and WA shooting.

Of course, we don't know what the quality or price will be for the Fuji products.

I am actually ok with the evf on the Fuji. But on the other hand, I am not sure it is a given that the evf will be the only way... They could implement a ovf w/ variable frame lines or they can do it as a evf only. Right now I cannot remember if Fuji has stated what they are going to do with zooms....

Yeah, Gary, I haven't read too many details about the actual operation of these lenses. Maybe I should work with the EVF a little and get used to it.

They have said before that they can implement variable frame lines. I'm fairly sure of that. But personally, even the evf on my x100 works pretty well for me - I don't mind using it at all.

Personally, I think the EVF is terrible. I don't recommend these lenses until the next iteration of the camera.

It does seem awfully DIM unless I'm doing something wrong. Maybe we can still hope for a firmware adjustment.

I use the EVF about half the time these days...because I can't trust the OVF's AF indicator (even corrected) in certain situations. It's usuable, but it has to be one of the worst in a current generation camera.

Odd that there are multiple comments about a dim EVF. I've not found that to be the case at all (and mine's set to a pretty middling brightness level). I often find myself shooting through the EVF rather than the OVF.

I use the evf more than the ovf. I find it to be quite acceptable. Not dim at all.

But actually three choices 😀 if u want to include viewing from LCD. Especially when I want to be part of picture, just turn on LCD mode and let someone else take the picture.
