So what is this forum about?
So what is this forum about?
'This is, in the main, psychology. It ranges from - tell me I am still worthy even though I don't use a $3000 lens, to look how worthy I am because I can afford a $3000 lens; help me justify this s*** load of money I've just spent even though I can't really see any difference to my old lens; look I'm a bona fide member of the club; etc.
I find these threads interesting, usually very entertaining, encouraging when my own puchase decisions are confirmed and a great way of avoiding having to go out and take photographs.'
Amen.
I'm most impressed with those folks with enough experience to see the advantages of what they have and know how to make the best use of it.
My vanity is always greatly encourged when I see folks claiming that their cheap Japanese lens is equal to or better than some top of the line hunk of glass, yet those prideful photographers who may own either are often such second rate craftsmen.
Why do you think Holgas have such a following?
As a guitar player and a photgrapher I was quick to learn that there are Les Paul's and Strats, and likewise Summicrons and Elmars.
Gravity and talent being what it is, in the end skill will find the best tools and experience will always trump ballyhoo.

There are three kinds of people in the world. There are those that can count, and those that can't.

Buddists believe in the duality of the world. I can see both sides of that argument.

i also agree with gid, it's the reason we all belong to and participate in rff, we want to belong to the same club, the rf club.
as far as individual brands...we want our brand/forum/club to be the best.

Depends on what you need the car to do. Each has its own merits.
BTW what's your budget?

I'd want a Blue Mini or a British racing green H2...
So, what's best for you may not be what I want, so why should you care, unless you are as bored as I am tonight.

Erik,
Keep us posted on your Hummer...that is unless someone at work gets offended because the word "Hummer" is on their screen and their co-workers think they are up to doin' nasty.
Sorry...I could not resist. I have never fully recovered from the camera porn thread.
