I stumbled over this while checking prices on line.

They seem like a well established company and are based in WA ... but this does seem incredibly cheap! They're taking pre-orders at this price but don't give an availability date so I've emailed them and asked if this price is fixed and what the expected delay for delivery would be!

Trying to resist actually owning this camera is pointless I've discovered ... the tsunami that it's riding on is near inescapable!

(I feel dirty!) 😱

I just got the reply to my email!

Good afternoon

This is a firm price, but is an upfront payment to secure your line in the
queue. They are expected at some point in March, but as to exactly when and
how many we receive we don't know.

Kind Regards,

e-Store Manager

I'm very surprised that this store is selling the X100 for just over $1100.00 ... Vanbar who is one of the largest photography specialist retailers in Oz are asking $1295.00.

Upfront payment, we already know that Fuji has not yet indicated how many bodies will be sent on the first order and that larger retailers like Amazon have suspended taking pre-orders due to anticipated long waits for the product to arrive.

I don't know this seller, but sending them $1,100 to hold, for an indefinite period of time... no, not for me.

I've preordered from Vanbar and I'm sticking with Vanbar (no charge to credit card until delivery). I dont want to pay upfront especially for an item with unknown ETA. Also I generally like the service I get from Vanbar peeps, which might prove important with an early production item and possible teething issues.

Keith I've heard good things about this mob too:

Yes I've dealt with them previously ... only a couple of compact flash cards but for some reason I had to sent them proof of my ID before they'd accept an online credit card transaction?

Vanbar are great I agree ... extremely helpful! 🙂

Go with B&H, Adorama, Precision etc. Nobody undersells them. You might find that you have to pay an extra $150 for stuff that's normally included in the box, like a battery and charger. These scams have been around for ages.

Scam? It is a proper shop you can go to..... so if you live in Perth, Western Australia, it would be strange to order this camera from the US, when you can order online and pick it up in the store.

I'm in Adelaide and I preorderd from Photoco for $1300 or thereabouts. Also ordered the leather case and the hood/adapter. Who knows if I'll get it in the first allocation... Given that the US price is $1200 I think $1300 here is good - what with GST and all. (Better than Nikon if you look at D7000 prices in Aust vs US for example) I also thought that $100 for the case was OK - given that it's what I paid for the case on my dlux3 - and that's not such a great case. Go Fuji! Im determined to love it no matter what (but then again, that's what I said about Julia Gillard).

Do you pay Tax on top of that in Australia?. As far as I'm aware you don't pay Tax in the USA when ordering stuff online (outside your state). In the UK it's 20% on everything. So, after VAT, it's £1000 for the camera alone, or $16000!

Im in Perth, Western Australia and was told the price would be AUS$1299 (that $1299 includes our GST (goods & services tax)). I was surprised that the price closely matched the US price, like others have said its usually quite a lot more. 🙂

The salesman also said the expected delivery date is early to mid March for the initial batch (5). Accessories are supposed to be part of that first delivery as well, so hopefully the adaptor and hood I ordered show up with the camera.

I pre-ordered on Amazon for $1199.00 with free shipping. No charge until they ship. Amazon has the best return policy bar none.

My (Adelaide, Australia) Preorder price of AUD 1300 included GST, which (with dollar at parity) is slightly less than the US price of 1200 if you take off the GST. Good decision Fuji!
