X100 Startup Problem

Got an X100 last week and I am really liking it.. However, since I got it there have been intermittent problems when I turn it on, especially after it has been off for a time. The OVF frame lines light up then disappear. Switch to LCD and while all the indicators are on, the screen is black. The camera is working and can even take a pic but the iris on the lens remains closed. Stays this way no matter how long I kep it on, or even after depressing the shutter. It only goes away after I turn it off and on a couple more times.

I have truer different cards (all fast Lexar cards), formatted the cards, different batteries. Like I said, it works but the lens aperture does not open. The camera has a 21 serial number, and came with v1.21. I really like it and I want to see if I am just missing something, mother wise it will need to go back. If anyone has heard of this problem and can shed some light, I'd appreciate it.

Something similar happened me once when I used a SD card formatted in another camera. Have you tried a full reset in the menu? That cleared it for me. Check it has the latest firmware as well.

It's best to get in the habit of formatting the card after very download you do.
I had similar sluggish performance when I first adopted an x100. It was solved when I got further in to the learning curve and started to format each time I placed a card into the camera.

Cheers!

That too works for me for speeding up the response. But a reset cleared the blacked-out LCD problem. May be a bug that is hard to replicate (the worst kind).

I format my card everytime I want to delete all files. When you delete w/o formatting, some files are still embedded in the card.

Did the reset, reformatted the card, etc. Still doing it. Bummer.
Only thing I have not done is update from v1.21 to 1.3 (which is mainly for the 28mm accessory), because I might not be able to return it to adorama if that did not solve the issue. Thanks, guys.
