I've been looking for a case or bag to use to carry my X100s (when It gets replaced or repaired by Fuji) and I'm finding it difficult to get one that's just right. I like the official case, leather and traditional, but I would prefer something that doesn't say 'camera' when I carry just the camera when I don't want to carry my full camera bag and kit (I have the X-Pro1 and prime lenses). I've seen one so far but I think it's a little large ( Case Logic's SLMC-200 ) but I'd like to hear your suggestions for a good case/bag please.

Cheers, Macjim

I'm always a little puzzled by members who seek "camera bags that don't look like camera bags." There's such a bewildering variety of camera bags, tote bags, messenger bags and carry-ons available today that I wonder what a "camera bag" really looks like. On a more positive note, I really like the LowePro Event Messenger series of bags right now. I have two sizes (one is for my X100) and they're highly practical and quite inexpensive - I'd rate them better than comparable Thinktanks, one of which I use with a Leica M6 outfit. I modify the LowePros by removing the bulky, awkward and unnecessary "military" buckles they come with. The velcro on the Event Messenger bags is so tenacious you can turn the bag upside down with heavy gear in it and nothing will fall out. The velcro can be folded back when you're shooting so you don't get that ripping noise that all hook and loop fasteners make. I might conclude by adding that I've toted camera bags of all kinds - including the old fashioned leather ones that really DID look like photo bags - all over the world, including some pretty dodgy locations and a few places that were more or less war zones and never once has anyone tried to grab the bag...TW

The reason for camera bags that don't look like camera bags is this: they don't look like camera bags so they don't attract the attention of thieves. A 'camera bag' can make you a target as it shouts out tourist and usually means a lot of expensive gear inside.
I have two camera bags, a ThinkTank Retrospective 7 and the 20 and both bags don't look like camera bags, but what I want is a small case that allows me to have a day where I'm not carrying a load of kit, just the X100s and maybe a spare SD card or two, and that can double as a protective cover when I put the X100s in a rucksack or shoulder bag.
I'll take a look at the messenger bags as I'm not sold on the magnet closures used in the ThinkTank cases. I do like the official Fujifilm case as it has a tradition look to it, just like my old Olympus case that I had on my OM-1n many moons ago but it shouts 'camera' so I'd prefer something a little less conspicuous. I do street photography by the way.

I've just checked out the messenger bag, sorry but its too large and much like the Retrospective bags I have.

ThinkTank are pushing me towards the Mirrorless Mover 10 as they said the 5 is too small for the X100s.

Hello,
Sorry for the wee delay it replying but my camera failed and needed replacing so that took a while to happen plus, I've been in the middle of a family crisis so that took president over everything.
I've kind of made up my mind to go with the ThinkTank Mirrorless Mover bags and I would prefer the 5 but I'm told its to neat for the X100s. Now, all the images I've seen for the MM10 shows it with an OM-D camera and lens but I don't want a bag to take the X100s and lens (it's a fixed lens) so the 5 would be nearer the size I need. Does anyone own the MM5 and use it to carry the X100s, and is it a neat fit (too tight) or would I be better to go for the MM10? Unfortunately there are no stockist of ThinkTank bags (Jacobs Digital was the only supplier in Scotland before they went bust) for me to take my camera to test it.

OK, I've ordered the ThinkTank photo Mirrorless Mover 10. It's larger than I wanted but it's the next best thing as I really wanted a compact case rather like the official X100/s case. I couldn't justify £100 for that though. Thanks for all your comments and help in my choice.
