I agree completely. LCD works great for 28mm and wider IMO. I think the Fuji is interesting because of the tilt / touch screen. It really could make it more interesting than the GR for that reason. I wonder who will have the balls to put out a 21mm version of this type of camera (like the Ricoh GR21).

I was going to say "buy an X-M1 & 27mm/2.8, but I think (?) the X-m1 is out out production ...?

The equivalent would be the 18 f/2 in terms of focal length, though it's a faster lens. The 27 f/2.8 would be a 40 equivalent.

I love my GR, I'm curious about this, but I don't need a tilting screen and I don't want a touch screen.

I'd probably set it up to use it the way I do my GR, which makes me think that I'm Probably just being seduced by the shiny and new.

If Nikon tried taking on the GR and lost, this is a brave move from Fuji.

I suspect they'll price it too high and whether it actually competes with the GR will be a secondary concern

A new 18f2 is 449. The xm1 body is 399. Amazon US price compare. The xa bodies tend to be about 100 or more cheaper though.

They are at least comparible in price. Whether that is the wrong price for the x70..only time will tell. Even though I am not interested in buying one, I also think price is about 100 too much.

They have been able to sell the x100 and xp series at what I have always felt a higher than normal price due to their uniqueness.. The x70, doesn't have the luxury..it will be interesting to c how people vote w/ the pockets.

Things got a bit interesting w/ the x70.. A 21 wcl was listed..

21 and 28 plus crop 35 and 50 mode makes an interesting combo...🙂

Fuji has a history of pricing pretty high and then cutting deeply.

I see the Amazon Prime price for the 18/2 is $599USD. List in Canada appears to be $699, though it was $499CDN during Boxing week sales, i.e. until this week.

Very nice indeed ! My first thoughts were that it was surprising to see something which could be achieved with buying an XA-2 sporting an XF 18mm f/2 lens, but...

a very interesting camera, but, as others have said... close to $900 is too high when you can get a slightly larger XM or XA with an 18mm f/2 for the same or close to the same price.

Hell, you can get a used X-E2 + used 18mm for about $900, and the new firmware will add the new AF features too boot.

I think $700 may be a better selling price, else, just get a used X ILC (XA, XM or used X-E2) with a used 18mm

I do like the X70, and for me, a great street camera. and family camera

I still think it'll be smaller than any other fuji and lens combo. Also, it'll have a leaf shutter and it may have the fastest AF yet. We will see. I'm intrigued. It depends on how you intend to use it. I never thought the Fuji 18mm f/2 was a great lens personally.

I hope you're right. Because I'm waiting for the next alliteration of interchangeable lens Fuji's to get on the used market before I buy one of those at a lower price. & I want this one to be my hold over until that happens.

I really would prefer $700.

Physical exposure control w/o mode dial.
Black one looks good.
Potential of conversion lenses.
Customizable control ring (in addition to physical aperture control??)

Sad:
Wish at least external EVF was available.
Wish it was 35mm equivalent.
Silver one looks ood without leatherette looking body part.
F2.0 would have been great (to distinguish itself from the GR).

Have to admit, even as a enthusiastic Ricoh GR series user, the Fuji X70 is catching my eye. Sufficiently different due to the physical shutter and aperture controls, the tilting touch screen, and the potentials of the X-Trans II sensor.

Superfluous for my needs? Indeed. Intriguing as the next new shiny thing? Absolutely.

In video Mini is with blank reg plate, should be done in-camera by JPG processor.

If not then they could just could use different angle/framing to not allow such goof. Blanked reg plates are OK for tabloids not sale pics/vids.
