xe3...will it happen?

According to Fujirumors, Fuji HQ is aware that many are requesting for the X-E3, including myself.
But at this point, it's all speculation.

My guess is an announcement later this summer and release later this fall/winter.

Still baffles me why Fuji released the X-E2S in the first place.

It will never happen. Fuji only now realise they reached the pinnacle of camera technology with the XE-1, and regret having made the XE-2. The next firmware will revert all XE-2's back to XE-1 functionality. 😀
You might just have to go and shoot? 🙂

Perhaps so they don't have to release XE3 anytime soon. It might cannibalize XPro2 and XT2 sales.

XT20 with its touch screen seems quite capable camera. Personally would prefer touch anytime over joystick or pad. Haven't seen much interest about it on RFF.

I have no information on an updated XE.

From a practical standpoint, other than an updated sensor and processor, what features would others like to see? For my part, a tilt screen (not necessarily touch) would be nice. If I had my druthers, what I would really, really, really like to see is Fuji's hybrid viewfinder incorporated in an XE-size body. Sort of an X-Pro Lite. Not likely, I'm sure.

24MP X-Trans CMOS III sensor and Acros is one thing I would like on the X-E3.
Streamlined one hand operation menu buttons like the X100F is another.
Bonus would be higher magnification, 0.77x instead of the previous 0.64x

new rumors are out regarding the X-E3 and most likely official announcement next Thursday. check fujirumors.

Rumored Fujifilm X-E3 specs
24MP X-Trans III sensor
EVF 0.62x magnification
Fujifilm X-E3 Will Have a New Touch Screen (Better than X-T20)
no D-pad
no Combined Shutter/ISO dial
more expensive than X-T20
Focus Jostick
smaller than X-E2

I like how clean the back is now, reminds me of digital leica but curious to see how the menu system will work with touchscreen and without the D-pad.
disappointing that the EVF is still 0.62 and that no combined shutter/ISO

i'll hold my decision whether to get one or stay with the X-E2 after they release the pricing.
also starting to wonder, if the price difference between new X-E3 and used X-Pro2 is only around 100-200$, why not get a used X-Pro2 instead.

for what I do I am more than happy with X-E1 (bought it at significant discount when X-E2 was released) and it will last me another 5 years. I don's care much for AF improvements or extra buttons (or the lack of thereof) or IQ improvements that one can see only by pixelpeeping... I would have loved though to have FF sensor... I don't like how "face-lifting" is used to justify another price jump... but on the other hand I like that old models then sell for a reasonable price 🙂

agree, pretty happy with my X-E2 and X-M1 at the moment as well.
will be driving down Zion/Antelope with one of these camera as my landscape camera and see if 16MP will cut it for me.

another possibility I see might happen for me is to keep the X-E2 + 18mm and 50mm.
Sell the X-M1 + 16-50 and Zeiss 12mm and buy a Sony A7 which I can use with my legacy Leica and Pentax lenses.

I still favor the XE1 and 27 or f1.4/35 for my daily carry.... I like af even the poor xe1 af.
Even though the A7 is now here in my kit for a universal back (it does not mount the Fujilux f1.4/35mm... not so universal).

I was one who skipped the XE2 and have high hopes for the XE3.
PD pixels, Write speed, built in Wifi, built in "flippable" flash, bulgier grip..... these things top my list of wants.
Still,.... I probably won't buy one until they come down under $400 on second hand market 😀

if the X-E3 had borrowed the X-T2 viewfinder (the only EVF i've ever been impressed with), i probably would have bought it. had my fingers crossed but knew deep down it wasn't in the cards.
