XP3 with 7A 50 1.1

Huss and Raid, I have an M240 and use a selection of Leica lenses. The limitation is low level photography, or near to the ground. I have the right angle evf (an Olympus version) but live view and focusing is pitiful. Hence my thoughts towards a mirrorless.

At the moment I’m researching mirrorless cameras (due to flange depth from the sensor) to accept and perform with Leica M glass. My 1st choice would be FF 35mm and I may end up with a Z6 or an A7x.

Below around 35mm you need to be more selective about which lenses you want to use on the mirrorless cameras. Some do well, some will do poorly. Much less of an issue at longer focal lengths. I use my M glass on the A7RII and most of it does well there. With the appropriate adapter it will even AF but I rarely use that.

Leica sensors are tuned for M glass though and there are obvious differences in performance between the M240 and my A7RII with some lenses. You still want to be selective, even with the Leica camera. If you can live with a RF the M240 is a great camera though more limited in what it can do compared to a mirrorless. And 'bulky' means 3.5mm thicker than the later M10, thinner than most/all full frame mirrorless cameras. That extra bulk also means a bigger battery for great battery life.

I really love the Fuji jpegs.

When I shoot my xt2 I capture raw+jpeg, most of the time I save the jpeg, and delete the raw.

Love my M240 with all rangefinder lenses. However, I would be hard-pressed to achieve focus at 1.1 on a moving subject in low light no matter the viewfinder type.....optical RF or EVF.

... If I had to pick just one, it would be the 7A as gives such a nice look to pics. Price is a bonus.

Although I need another 50 like I need another hole in my head, I've been tempted to get the 7A. In fact, if it were not for the clickless stops I'd probably already have one.

Among its draws to me are its bokeh renditions and the fact it's 6-bit coded. But I have seen copies for sale recently that are NOT 6-bit coded at all! On this lens, for me, that's a deal killer.

b. Is it the same type of lens? Focal length is different, lens design is different. Size is different. Price is different. What would I be comparing?
iii. No interest in getting a 56, as I hardly ever would use it. My go to is the 27mm, next up is the 16mm 2.8. I carry the 7A along for those just in case scenarios.

Ok, sorry to have offended you. 🙄 You take this a bit too seriously. I wasn't trying to say this lens is bad. I was alluding to the fact that the 56mm 1.2 is also a fast lens for Fuji. Very fun lens to use.

Just saying they are not remotely the same kind of lens.

Everything I have heard of the 56 1.2 suggests it is insanely good. A perfect lens.
The 7A is not that.

How is yours at f1.1? Mine on my X-t3 looked odd, not sharp and sort of dirty image. At f1.4 it was fine though.
