I purchased a used xpan about two month ago and shot 7 films (135-36) with it since. Now the battery indicator signs me that the battery power is low (not flashing).

I have not used it in a while but I sometimes do projects with the Xpan and battery life is pretty good. I'd day at least 30 rolls, probably more.

Take the battery out of the camera after you use it. While it might not drain the battery, you certainly risk leakage and corrosion.

Was this a new battery that you put into the camera? Or the battery that came with the camera?
Either way, buy a new battery and see how long it lasts. Maybe the other battery was partly exhausted, even if it was new.

I found a mint XPan II that killed a new set of batteries in two rolls. Two friends (who shoot fairly regularly) told me that they change batteries once per year or so. I figured there was something wrong with the XPan's electronics (and that I'd be spending more on batteries than film), so returned the camera. I still miss it.

One more tip-ALWAYS carry a new, spare battery w/ your X-pan.

Thanx to all
My astonishment was as great because the xpan is the only non-mechanic camera I own. From my mechanical cameras I am accustomed that batteries are lasting more than one year
It was a "new" one but a "no-name". My photodealer had only this no-name and I don´t know how reliable this no name brand is. I´ll order some branded CR-2s .Was this a new battery that you put into the camera? Or the battery that came with the camera?

I agree, my X-Pan batteries last well, I don't count the rolls but they last many months and I use it frequently - but when it goes it goes quickly!

But remember that the xPan uses battery power for film transport and shutter, not just the meter. I use only brand name batteries, always carry extras and yes, the last "a long time". I hope the new batteries last longer for you.

I find that if I leave my camera "on" without film in it, the battery goes fast. Also, if you leave it "on" in your bag, you risk something depressing the shutter button, which will drain your battery fast too.
That said, I leave mine on almost all the time, and batteries last a while.
