OK, who has money to burn?
If you put two four third sensors side by side (3/8?), that makes 13mmx34mm. The dimension is exactly proportional to XPan (if we take it to be 24x64)! The kicker is that the image circle should fit into the 24x36 35mm frame? If so, then the lens mount can be anything. Nikon, Canon, Leica R, matters not.
What do you think? Digital XPan!?? May be the people at RED would be interested

It would be nice but I doubt RED will do it, the are already releasing a 617 sensor with special lenses!

There would need to be a way to join the images at the point of division between the sensors. No matter how closely they are placed, there will still be a division, a line or gap of some width. I wonder if the camera could use software similar to panoramic stitching software to join the images across the gap, without losing any of the image in the critical central area.
