I just read on another site that

Hasselblad has notified their US dealers that the Xpan II has been discontinued and is limited to stock on hand.

I wonder if there is any truth to this?

Does it mean the lenses or just the body.

I hope it's just the body.

I am still saving for the 30mm lens.

Hard to believe. I hope it's a rumour, the format and lenses are outstanding.

At least we can look on the bright side - this stuff was built to last so the gear will be around for a long time.
Things looked pretty bleak for RF users in the 80s and early 90s until we got the Hexar, Contax G and finally the Bessa.

I was pondering trying one out but I guess I'd need a new scanner for it. I know that this is OT but what film scanners do people use for this format cos If I want to try an XPAN looks like I'll have to do it sooner rather than later.

Hey,

I use a Konica Minolta Dimage 5400 II but also tested it with a Scan Dual IV.

Check out my signature for some examples.

Truely very sad news.
As an X-Pan user, I think X-Pan is a very well-made panorama camera.

oh well....just a few TX1 shots

now that the Xpan would be discontinued, just wanted to post a few shots.....

Boy am I glad I got one before this news came out. What will this do to prices for the 30 and 90?????

Fred, I also use a minotal 5400 and then use photomerge in PSCS2, with good results. You might also consider an Epson 4990, which allows you to scan the entire negative at once.

I went to the Hassy master website. It was updated to yesterday. No announcement there.

I did several exhaustive news websearches. No news there.

For the person who wrote this above: Either set down the website URL or retract your notice.

I too have trawled the www for any news of the XPan being pulled and nothing... I have also spoken to a major UK Hassy dealer and they were unable to confirm anything.

Richard,
FWIW, I also saw this - it was on the Leica board at photo.net - http://www.photo.net/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg?msg_id=00Epp6&tag=

The OP there notes that this is entirely down to Fuji, who actually made (make?) the camera. Whether the news is true or not remains to be seen. If its still unresolved the next time I get to London, I'll make a point of asking my usual source for photo news.
