xpan shutter life

It's a well-built camera. When I had one, I never even wondered about the shutter. I expect it will last a very long time.

From my few insights (could play with one only a few minutes), it shares much of the mechanics with my Konica Hexar RF. I'm pretty shure the shutter will survive the electronics.

i brought my xpan and xa4 to nepal. at the wee hours of the morning at Himalayan hotel roof top, i was ready to take a take the breath-taking mountain ranges. it was freezing at 5am, around 1 or 2 degrees Celsius.

the xpan froze up, and the xa4 saved the day.

the repairman told me the drive mechanism was worn out. he managed to source another xpan drive assembly and did a graft onto my xpan. so the issue wasn't the shutter but the automated film advance to watch for.

sorry to scare you, but it happened to me.

I had one, but sold 'cuz I was worried about the intricate electronic circuitry would give out someday. Maybe I was just overly paranoid or maybe not.

I've had mine since 2005, never had any problems and never worried about any potential ones, any camera can fail, that`s why we have more than one!!!!! :)
