Sorry to interject, I am seriously eyeing this fuji X line. How often do you use the OVF? I think I have settled on the XE1, but then I see this thread and not so sure..
I use the OVF only when it is sunny out (and I cannot see the EVF) now.

How much smaller is the small AF box?
About 1/3 to 1/4 the size u c in that image in evf mode.

I use the OVF at least 75% of the time. I discovered being able to see what's out of the frame was valuable when I used analog rangefinder cameras. I view the XP-1 as my rangefinder replacement camera. I can see how photographers with different goals than mine would use the EVF 100% of the time.
I use the EVF when precise framing is valuable; when I am in very bright light; as the subject distance decreases; when focusing is tricky (low light, high contrast objects near my intended focus point, or wide apertures).

I have rarely used the EVF since I bought mine. The OVF was the main reason I bought it. I have to confess the twin focus boxes confused me at first but it's a new toy and I'll get used to it.
I only have the 35mm and the free 18mm lens so far. When I get the 60mm I will probably end up using the EVF a lot more.
I bought mine for the OVF, but now use the EVF mostly. I like to know what is in focus wide open and such.

If the EX-1 had the same build quality of the X-Pro1, I probably would have chosen that over the X-Pro1. However, I don't go easy on my cameras and the X-Pro1 is surprisingly durable.
