xpro1...likin' it!

The biggest reason to get the Fuji is if your lenses need correction.

That and being able to use matching brightlines in the OVF (function only available with the Fuji adapter). For focal lengths 18-35 using zone focusing, it is pretty cool.

For lenses 35 and over, I tend to use the EVF anyway.

If I were to get an adapter other than the Fuji, I would get the Hawk's adapter that allows close focus of M lenses.

I never posted any images but others have. I bought a cheap third party while I waited for the official Fuji m adapter. Now I have both. I cannot remember if it is a rainbow or someone else.

I got lucky and the third party focused properly at inf. I have had third party adapters that did not and some that did even from the same vendor. It is a bit of hit and miss. From my experience adapting legacy lenses on the Nex I learned how to shim them to get infinity focus. I have heard that the Raquel's (cannot remember spelling) from the head bartender focus properly at inf. The biggest reason to get the Fuji is if your lenses need correction.

If u never intend to zone focus it does not matter about inf focus.

sorry gary, i didn't ask that very clearly...i was wondering about your images in general...not of the adapters.

not info...just wanted to see some of your work.

you have been a valuable contributor here, lots of great info...and the other day i was thinking that i don't recall seeing any of your pics.

not a big deal...

Thanks Joe,

Never been a picture poster to the forums outside of test shot.. I have posted some pictures occasionally. I posted some stuff back when i originally joined on the gf1. I recently posted pictures in the "initial impressions on dp2m" and in the monochrome dp2m image thread yesterday... Just not in my nature..

Cheers
Gary

tekst....

What forum was that in? love the way he did that. IS that just sandpaper or what? Do you know the process? Besides taking some years of course....

thanks...the sony rx1 had me all blocked up for awhile...and all the chatter about slow af slowed me down as well...but the fuji works well for me and i'm glad i made the move.

Joe-

I may have missed this in some earlier part of the thread, but there was a very low key announcement over the weekend that I almost missed.

Fuji has posted yet another update to the firmware for all three lenses on their Web site. The sole purpose was to improve focus speed and it does. Well worth the 10 minutes to download and upgrade.

Tom

i did the upgrade already tom...my using the fuji has no history with the slower focusing complaints of yesterday.
the camera is as fast as i need for my style of shooting.
i am loving it. and waiting anxiously for the new lenses to arrive...and some time to actually get out and shoot.

For whatever reason this thread pushed me over the edge of sanity last night and I woke up this morning, hung over, with an email from Adorama saying my X-pro 1 with 18mm f2 had shipped. They had one used for $1199 so I jumped on it, whiskey in hand.

Trust us, the hangover will be the worst part - you will LOVE this camera

Joe - is this why you put one of your RD-1's up for sale recently? I remember you were really loving the RD-1 & apprehensive about ever giving them up. So, with that in mind, should I get rid of my film cameras (most of them 😀) and my D200 & put the money into a X-Pro1 system? It would be painful, but I must to admit to myself that my eyes just won't focus the way they use to. Another point of concern is the longevity of Fuji's commitment to this system.
I'm getting to the age where I do not want to be jumping from one "system" to another, the learning curves start to become a factor as well...:bang: 🙁
I'd like to spend my time enjoying, IMHO, the art of capturing "moments" out of my world view & not learning another camera's operating software.

i can't really say what is best for you...
i have 2 rd1 bodies and i'm keeping one along with 3 lenses...i might sell it all down the road but not just yet.
the xp1 seems a very fine machine, the 2 lenses that i have are superlative and i'm thinking a better quality than i am photographer.
at 62, with progressive lenses and not as staedy hands as i used to...the af is a treat..
the camera is well built but not heavy metal, my bag seems very light these days...a bonus for me.
i thought long and hard about which system to buy into and so far i am very happy with my decision.
hth...
