Okay guys, as I mentioned in another thread, this evening I put in my order for an Xpro. As I can't afford a Fuji lens to go on it I intend using my CV15mm, CV28 3.5 and Canon 50mm 1.8 via an adaptor. My question being which adaptor do I buy? Seems to be a choice from a number of cheaper third party ones or the more expensive Fuji. Have you any recommendations? I will buy the Fuji if its better but obviously wonder about the compatibility, build etc of the third party ones. What are the differences?

You're right Johnny and I mentioned it before in another thread. I'm having major work done on my house at the moment i am staying with friend. Soon as I can I will update. In fact I suppose I could just delete the current one for the time being. Could change it to Gary Glitter.

My Kipon was* a poorly machined piece of garbage. The lenses actually rattle on the thing. Horrible. The fuji was expensive but it's perfect.

*actually, is. It's so bad I won't sell it to anyone. And the HK vendor that sold it to me on ebay was such a PITA about a return that I stopped fighting. If you buy a Kipon get it from a reputable dealer in your home country so you can return it if it's a garbage sample like mine was.

semilog, I hope I have better luck than you as I've ordered the Kipon. While I'm looking forward to trying it out with my m-mount lenses I can't wait to get a Fuji lens, probably the 35 1.4, to shoot alongside my X100. Something will have to go first though, my sweet Ricoh GRD IV looks most likely.
Depending on how much I like the Xpro the next decision may be, do I let my RD1 go too. That is a dilemma.

I have had excellent luck with the Rainbowimaging. Good prices, ships from the US and well made.

My early Kipon for Minolta was loose on the lens mount.

I've been using bottom of the barrel 3rd party (cheap chinese) adapters for years (with NEX and M4/3 and now with FX). And I think they're great! Ive had some trouble here and there, but most sellers are more then happy to replace defective ones (usually without having to send back the bad one).

Also, I strongly suggest you look into a Helicoid type M adapter. Those things kick ass! Your Canon 50/1.8 will especially love you for getting one! Theyre a little more expensive then regular cheapo M adapters, but with the close-up distance you gain, its worth it!

Well I got the Kipon adapter and heres just a test shot from the CV 15mm Heliar.

...but...what are the differences between the adapters, besides quality?

the fuji does more, i think? you can set which lens or focal length lens is in use?

what is lost when using a non fuji adapter?

If all other things being equal....

Special button to get to the manual lens menu
Lens corrections such as aberrations/distortion

The bad is that the Fuji lens has set of electrical contacts and a housing that intrudes into the throat, thus inner diameter max is decreased. Rf lenses w/ wide rear elements have an issue. That is the reason Fuji published a list of lenses that would work and not work w/ their adapter.

the one lens that i am interested in using is not on the list...either does not work or was not tested.
