...from a photographer's point of view, especially from street shooters...what has the shooting experience been like for you?

the first thing i noticed was the size of the body...felt much bigger than my favourite xe3...the pro3 is not really a big body but the xe3 feels downright tiny in comparison. this past week i added a third party grip that makes the pro3 very comfortable and solid but the pro3 body is ok on its own without a grip and i have been thinking i might not need it. i have already decided against a thumb thing as it is just not needed.

more to come...

please post some photos ...look forward to it !
i dont see your Flickr link anymore in your sig ;(

helen...i have taken mostly crap pics of late...no camera will change that...also, my mobility is fighting against me and i'm lucky if i can stay upright for 30 minutes so my walks are short and painful...and to add the cherry to the top...the new photo shop elements 2020 has me baffled!

clearly i am feeling as negatively as possibly.

please consider this whiney rant over.

Sorry to hear that Joe. Maybe try some still life in the apartment until you feel better. I hope things get better as quickly as possible.

In regards to the camera, I’d like one but in Chile they don’t have dura-black... I have to wait to go to the US before I can grab one. I’ve had regular black too many times and I have nice equipment in the meantime.

i checked over the weekend as to how many xpro3 bodies were sold at the local pro shop... including mine there have been 8 sold...6 were returned because the customers did not like the dura finish. (they were allowed an exchange)
i am quite pleased with the regular black finish.

The extra expensive and rare black titanium cameras like the Contax T3, Minolta TC-1 and a certain variation of the T2 all have similar fingerprint-prone finish to this "Dura" coating the X-pro3 seems to "suffer" from. Very few owners complained.

I assume the main fault for the titanium X-pro3 is they're readily available! Limit them to 500 pieces each with steep price tags. I bet you'd see owners being much happier than they're now.

I haven't used mine much yet, getting it coincided with lock down which has limited opportunities, but I have to say I love it, along with the 35, 18 and 14mm lenses it's about my perfect camera. I got a black one because I couldn't see the point in paying extra for the dura finish. the upgraded EVF is quite something and worth getting the X-Pro3 for.

Back to the original post question…

I’ve had my X-Pro3 since December, trading in my X-Pro2 of four years.

Shooting-wise, all-in-all the ‘3’ is just about the ideal digital camera for me, as it feels ‘right’ in my hands and doesn’t get in the way of how I work. It’s faster and more responsive - especially the autofocus - than the ‘2’.

The viewfinder (I use the EVF exclusively) is easier for me to see than on the ‘2’ and the eyesight diopter adjustment now doesn’t get moved - a big thumbs up from me for this. Also the flip screen has allowed me to get shots I would otherwise have struggled with. I rarely chimped with the ‘2’, so I don’t miss having the screen permanently on show.

Dura-black and sweaty fingerprints? Yes, they do show but they don’t affect the photos, so I couldn’t care less.

Would I have been happy to have kept my ‘2’ or bought another ‘2’ if the ‘3’ hadn’t come along? Yes, absolutely. But for me the ‘3’s’ improvements over the ‘2’ are noticeable and make for a more usable, picture-taking, focussed camera.

I'll buy one -the dura silver is my favorite. I've found an online seller in Vietnam but they only carry the black version. I might also just wait until I can travel again, and perhaps by that time the price has come down.

Finger prints? If they’re not on the lens I’m not sure what the problem is.
The X-Pro3 is my dream camera - I have 2 now - Dura black and black.
