Hi there, I was trying to repair a Yashica electro GT.
So far I fixed the PAD/POD of death, the white wire oxydated on the negative battery contact. Currently the camera gives me a positive battery check, and it changes slow/over warning lamp according to the light intensity. What I cannot figure it out is why the exposure masks are not moving while rotating the ASA dial. I assume the masks should open/close the aperture to the exposure cell depending on the film sensibility and I see the mask control cam is not fully positioned as in the repair manual circulating online.

Bottom line can you confirm the ASA selector should open/close the exposure mask aperture?

I cannot find a video/picture with a wide aperture.

PS. currently the camera is not shooting, not even at 1/500 so I am pondering to declare it fully dead.

solved!! yes the two masks should slide one over the other while turning the ASA dial, as consequence the aperture for the exposimeter will open/close accordingly to the higher/lower sensibility. The problem I believe was caused by a very pathetic attempt to solve the Pod of death which caused a drop of glue to end between the two masks. This was not clearly visible.
