Could someone tell me if the noise I describe in the following words is normal for the Yashica 35 GSN? When I do a film winding and click it, the camera works normally releasing the shutter. But when I do the film winding again and I start to move it, something inside the camera seems to snap half way and it sounds just like a release. If I go all the way with the film winding, I can do it normally. I removed the top cover and I can see that this noise is coming from the “axile for the release” that is moved upwards during the beginning of the film winding. I think this noise is very strange.

Thank all

In all YE35. after moving the winding lever about 30 deg. from rest, you should hear (normally) a "click" . It means that the array of internal switches is now in the start position for the next take. It means also that the (in)famous pad of death is still in good shape. Otherwise, if what you hear is a loud "clunk", definitely you are having POD problems or they will arise very soon. If the camera works OK, it is timing is OK, B and Flash settings work OK, don´t worry.
If in doubt, check it with a short roll of 12 or 24 exp.
If you want to be sure that there is nothing wrong, check with camera unloaded and back open if the shutter timing os OK: it is, not a single speed (default is 1/500th), and when changing light conditions (blocking the CdS cell) the shutter remains open for longer times. If you did shot a roll, confirm that the exposure is accurate. If the exposure is not correct, you may get under and /or overexposed shots sometimes at random in the same roll. This is usually caused when POD starts to desintegrate, and the switches are not allways well positioned. I would recommend to visit either Yashica-guy and/or Roger Provins websites. They have wonderfull information regarding those excellent cameras, and how to repair them.
