I am considering buying a Yashica CC or CCN.

Do any of you have experience with this camera? I am told it has a very sharp lens and is an excellent street shooter.

What are the pros and cons please?

Regards
Peter

Pros: all black. 35mm lens. aperture-priority. feels good (in my hands).
Cons: aperture-priority ONLY (no full manual). no indication of used shutter-speed.

Lens is good enough for all practical puropose. Of my fixed-lens-RF-gear only the Revue Auto S22 (aka Konica Auto S2) tops it (almost indistiguishable slightly).

Summary: best street-shooter in my bag.

If you find one at Goodwill, a flea mkt. or in a dumpster, you're in luck but otherwise they are getting up there in price. I expect this is because they have a deserved great reputation and there weren't many made. I love mine. BTW--CC and CCN are identical.

ive had mine advertised on here for the past couple of days but sold it on evilbay-you should have bought it as theyre rare as rocking horse sh!t! theyre a great little camera but i miss the weight of the gs etc, im going to post it tomorrow but i might scan the manual before i send it to portugal!

I do not check the classifieds as much as I should.
If you do scan the manual may I please have a pdf of it?
Happy to pay.

I have a CC and a Konica Auto S3. As much as I like Yashicas, I prefer the Konica Auto S3 to the CC even though the CC is built more solid. The CC has a very good lens - no complaints from me. The S3 has one of the best lenses I own, and this is especially evident at wide open or near-wide open apps. The CC is a sub f2, 35mm focal length - its claim to fame. The S3 is also F1.8, quite bright, but a 38mm focal length. The difference is meaningless from a practical stand-point. Both are semi-wides. The S3 has a top shutter speed of 1/500, and doesn't lock you in to a 1/30th if using a flash. In fact, it's got quite a nice GN-based flash system, that syncs at all speeds, with a fill flash feature that's simple and terrific.

Just a thought if you're having trouble locating a decent CC and an S3 pops up. The S3 is also smaller thant the CC.

NickTrop,

Thank you for your thoughts / comments on the two cameras.
It is always good to have this type of comparison.

I have a great respect for the Konica RFs. I had a very early one some years back, model escapes me now, but it was the one that had a detachable light meter mounted on the side. Very sharp lens.

I am trying to avoid GAS and will concentrate on my Yashicas at this point, but you never know what you will do when a RF appears in the secondhand store window, do you?

lol, thats the problem i have, i try to concentrate on yashicas but end up seeing other rfs and i cant resist them. i recently bought a samoca le11 that was mouldy as it had been left in a cellar, but i had to have it as i like them! ive cleaned it up though and its sparkling now and ready to go for a cla, it only cost me £1 as well!
