The long live MF thread in the MF RF section is killing me! I have been wanting a 6X6 in one form or another. I have found a Yashica D with the Yashinon lens with case and manual for $175. It is very clean and all functions check. It may be priced a little on the high side but I can trust I am getting a good user.
Is this a fair deal?

I think you have done OK. Now start looking for a lens hood.

Fine camera, I've had a few over the years, and the Yashinon lens is exellent - as opposed to the Yashicor that is on some other models. At that price I would expect an imaculate, even mint example!. Watch out for roughness in the winding geartrain, and tight focus movement - indicating a drop!.The long live MF thread in the MF RF section is killing me! Excellent camera. I would consider it a fair deal by all means. Congratulations. Michael

That's really me
$175 sounds a little on the higher end side. For that price I would expect to get one in great condition. Are you buying it from a store or from another person? The asking price reflects a known camera in good usable condition and a warranty of some sort would make the decision easier.

Yes, that's a bit high -- but as others have said, if it's a camera you have seen and like, and the seller is standing behind it, then that's worth the premium.

The price seems a bit high unless as stated it's in very good to mint condition...
It has the right lens and I second what Windscale says...Lenshood !!!
Pick up some Neopan 400 for your test run...(I like B&W in my 124g)

I recently bought a Rolleiflex Automat type 4 with Tessar, for $80 in nice shape.
Has anyone got a spare bayonet 1 lens hood?

I have one of these, a hand-me-down, which I really haven't used to its full potential yet. I've had fun playing with it, and it is a nice camera.
I admit I'm not used to the backwards right-to-left image in the viewfinder!

Thank you for all the responses. I think it is priced too high. I may call the dealer and see if it his best cash price and throw in the fact that I have bought there before and am a teacher. Otherwise I will keep looking. I really think I want the Mamiya TLR more. There is a C3 in the classifieds I am contemplating, especially since it has just had a CLA.

Here is one that seems to be going cheaper - at least so far:

Krosya, that ebay listing is for a D with the lesser Yashikor lens.
The Yashinon lens on the Yashica D is uncommon.
But this is in a day when a Rollieflex V goes for $100 with the Xenar on it.

Not a bad camera, but I got mine in good condition with leather case last year for $25...

The best camera is one that still works!
Why not a Rolleicord ... I've seen some very cheap examples of those around ... from memory Hung Hang had one in the classifieds for around $100.00 a short while ago? They are a little dim in the focusing screen dept though!
Mine cost me $75.00!
