And one or two money shots just for good measure!

More to come, but that's all for now.

That is a First rate Job!

You can see the indexed cam to RF couple the nominal 45mm (46.8mm) focal length lens to the Leica. This is possible with the M-Mount as it locks into place, allowing a more precise registration than the screw mount lenses.

"Xenon/Ektar Helicoid"- sounds like this part is made for the 47mm f2 Ektar from the Retina II. I always thought the 50/2 Xenon might actually be a little wider. The Kodak 47/2 Ektar and 50/2 Xenon both appear on the Retina II.

Hi everyone, I’ve been real busy as of late, but figured I’d give everyone some follow up thoughts on the lens conversion now that I’ve had it for awhile. Bottom line, I couldn’t be happier. The lens handles great, the resistance on the aperture ring has loosened up with use and finally feels just about right. It took awhile to get used to turning the aperture ring though, which is the opposite direction of what it’s like on most lenses. The focusing knob is very easy to turn with one finger when I’ve been wearing gloves in the cold. The lens’s construction has remained rock solid and has had zero problems despite the fridge air. I have yet to do a side by side test with an original GSN and my converted lens but I will in the future. Images appear to be a hair smoother when stopped down than on my original GSN, but I’ll wait to do a side by side test before drawing conclusions. One thing that is certain is I can finally nail focus every time with my GSN... now that it’s attached to an R2a. 😉 The R2a focusing patch makes getting precise focus wide open a none-issue, and the Yashinon is no exception, plus the 50 framelines fit perfectly. I haven’t been able to shoot as much as I’ve wanted to in the past few months, but I’ve attached some more photos below taken with the Yashinon conversion, as well as a side by side comparison of my shooter GSN and the converted Yashinon on my beloved R2a (note the wear to the shutter speed dial from constant use). All in all I couldn’t recommend the services of MS optical and Dirk enough. Clearly the work of people who love what they do! That’s all for now.

And here are some more photos taken with the Yashinon Conversion, all of these are 400 Fuji Superia X-tra, all rough scans except the last two:

One of the more interesting threads on RFF. I had no idea lens conversions to this extent were even possible - my mind is racing with the possibilities! The photo's look great as well, kudos to you.

Found it necessary to recalculate the diameter of the apertures for this lens.
How to do it?
I linzoblok Yashinon 45 / 1,7 of Yashiki GSN has put in another plug in the central helix of the Industar 26
The formula d / f = 1 / K, is not suitable. If F / 1,7 is obtained aperture diameter 26.6 mm,
and in fact 16 mm.
Can someone tell me, or better to measure the diameter of aperture for this lens. I would be very grateful.
This design has the ability to work as a gate on the camera and lenses in the central gate.

I own two Yashica RF cameras, but I will not change their lenses to M mount.
It is a personal choice after all.

The reason for this alteration to me, is the use of faulty Cameras Lens Yashinon 45 / 1,7. Just a second life lenses.

The question is whether such a costly conversion is worth it or not.
Is the lens really great when compared to a Summicron?
Are there "better" alternatives available?

Luxury items are desired by many people. It could be an expensive watch or ring or ... lens. Such a lens costs far less than a luxury item, but it is not really needed. It is desired.

Of course Summicron should be convenient, but it is more expensive.
Well, class, creative process, and most importantly the end result. I think it will be good. The ability to use this lens on Zorki-4, with multiple exposure adds creativity in filming.

Looks like I've found something else to spend my future lottery winnings on 😀

That 1.7 would do great on my YF.
