Yashica Elextro 35: Lense marginally loose after replacing "POD"

Hello forum users!

I'm new in this forum and I'm from Germany, so please excuse bad english in advance!

After successfully replacing the "Pad of Death", I recognize a never before hearable "click" when I lightly shuttle the whole objective-unit (not focus or shutter) of my Electro 35. It is only a little little way, you can't see it, but you can hear it.

Does this get worser and does it affect correct functioning of the Yashica?

Martin... If I'm understanding you correctly (and somebody else please step in if I'm not correct), I think that "click" is a function of having a "good POD". It's when you don't hear that click that it means the POD is going.

It's known affectionately as the Yashica "Kachunk". You can lessen the sound by putting a little pressure on the release trigger as you advance the film. It won't hurt anything.

no no, I Don't mean the "Clunk". I like this sound very very much. It's the reward for my micro-surgery!

I mean the objective unit. When I move it (not focus, not shutter rings) I recognize a little "clicking" sound as this unit is not well fix at the cam-body.

I just want to know, if other Electro 35s have the same symptom.

Some lenses wobble a bit, I have never heard a click will just check, hey if i listen really carefully they click, tho some wobble less than others, I have 3 electros
, just take pics and see how they come out - you will be amazed.

I agree with tunznath - I have had Electros that have had a slight movement with the objective ( lens assembly ) and it did not affect the image at all or the functions. I would be aware though if the 'click' gets louder or the lens assembly gets more 'mobile'.

OK, I will continue taking photos! Maybe I was a little bit too scary because i've spent so much time in fixing the "POD" and the light seals.

Yes indeed, this camera takes really nice pictures!

There are two places to look for when your lens is "wiggling"

- take off the front elements (until you see the shutters), there's ring (very thin) would screw it down to hold the aperture cluster to the "timer" (shutter) parts of the lens (prevent the lens from wiggling IN and OUT)

- If its still wiggle after you tighten the ring, look right under the aperture cluster (you will see the clock work of the shutter mechanical) there are two pods (legs) that will "stop" the aperture cluster with the shutter mechanical from wiggling side to side. I never replace those (they couldn't be screw back either) , I usually replace the whole lens.

Not as confusing as I explain, just open it up and you can see it.
