I just recently purchased one of them and it should be shipped out shortly. It didn't come with a strap, so I am wondering if I get a Rollei scissor fitting TLR strap, would that work or is there something specific I need to look out for?
Thanks a bunch !

I use a post-mount Gordy strap with mine. Looks great and works a treat.

But the strap I mentioned, will it work with the Yashica 124G?

not sure, what strap exactly do you mean?

I don't know the answer to that one because I don't have a Rollei alligator-clip strap to try on my 124G.

Actually, I found another thread about Yashica 124G straps and I think I'm gonna let that ROllei strap go, wait 'til my Yash gets here and pick up a gordy strap.

hm I don't think that those scissor clips would fit. especially not with the yashica leather case. you'll see what I mean when you have your new toy
I have some more or less random hama strap on my leather case not on the camera, so I don't need to take it off when putting on the case.
regards.

1) The scissor strap won't fit securely, if at all.
2) The scissor straps cost too much!

I have one and I'm using an old Canon DSLR strap. And it works fine. I'm amused by the big CANON DIGITAL logo on the strap leading to a camera from 1960.

The scissor strap I saw is $20 bucks. I wouldn't complain about that! 'Cept...y'all are saying it wouldn't fit.. so I'd complain about that
.
Yeah, my Yash doesn't have a case either lol lol, but yeah I would put the strap on the body. And I'm thinking of only using half a case if any. The part that goes around the body. Though I suppose that other half has it's use.
Question, since you have its case, is it meant to come apart in two or is every time I see half a case it's because it's broken?

Yeah I'll either pop into The Camera Trading Co. on Bank (in Ottawa) or check out the gordy strap... Though I don't know if I can deal with those bits of string that attach to the body. It's more visually concerning than anything else, they can clearly hold the weight. But I'm one of those, "What if someone comes at it with scissors!" in which case that 1mm thick string is easily cut, but most anything come at with scissors wouldn't hold up.
Anyways! I Think I'd get over the psychological distress after after a while

Shooter of Film...
I don't know if the clips will work on the 124 but I wouldn't trust any old leather strap...I have a Domke strap on my 124...I just looped it around the lugs on the leather case...I also just use the back half of the case...

You might try Camera Depot, they sell a large number of retro stuff including Leica screw caps and body caps, look good, and fewer $$$ than the Leitz real thing.

Yeah, okay, that's reliable? I saw on ebay someone who was selling a neoprene-looking strap where they did exactly that and I was wondering how trustworthy that was. That makes me feel better to know what you do that. I'll check in at my local store to see what he's got and then if I'm not satisfied with what's in store, just do what you stated above.nikon_sam said:I don't know if the clips will work on the 124 but I wouldn't trust any old leather strap...I have a Domke strap on my 124...I just looped it around the lugs on the leather case...I also just use the back half of the case...
Hmm I think I have that (not like there's just one) Domke strap for my Leica.. with the quick release?
I see half a case selling for about $20.00 is it worth it at that price?*
Or should I just find a whole case, use the back half while shooting and then use the whole thing for storing? Hmm that sounds like a good idea, and then I could put my strap on the back half of the case. Eureka, that is what I'll do. Now to find the right case..
*Actually I found a whole case for $24. Done and done.

I've owned Rolleiflexes and a 124g, and though I never tried (so take this with a pinch of salt), it didn't look like the Rollei alligator clips would go on the 124g - the post is maybe a bit too far under the slot?
And yes, they are unbelivably expensive. I've got Gordy straps on other cameras and that would probably be my choice.
Personally, I wouldn't go for the case, it makes the camera a bit bulky and unwieldy when the front flap is open (I had it, and never used it), but each to his own.
