If you're planning to pick up a hood for it, beware... not all Bay I Hoods are not created equal. The metal Yashica hoods I've tried fit both my 124g and my Rolleicord Vb... however I have two original Rollei metal Bay I hoods and they do NOT fit my 124g, something is VERY slightly off... by just a fraction of a millimeter and the Rollei hoods will not mount properly.

FWIW, I use a Rollei hood on my Yashica-Mat (original, non-124 kind). There is something a little off tolerance-wise, as the Rollei hood is a little stiff to mount. A little Rem oil on the springs helped that, though.
All that said, a third-party Bay I hood's gonna be a much cheaper way to go than a Rollei hood.

Yeah.. the Rollei hoods are more expensive... but they're definitely more numerous and easier to find than the metal Yashica ones... you can get plastic 3rd party ones for about $10 on ebay... works just as well as the more expensive vintage ones.

Last night i cleaned it up with some windex and q tips. cleaned up really nice.
It seems to fire ok, Im not to sure if i should send it to mark hama for a CLA.
As for a lens hood i might try and pick up a ebay lens hood too...

Indeed, Mark Hama is the man for doing a CLA on Yashicas- he did a great job on mine about a year ago.

Run a roll through it first and then decide if it needs service...
I don't use the meter on mine, although it does work, instead I meter with either a Weston Master II or use the meter in my Mamiya m645 and set it to that reading...Works just fine for me!!!

Yea, I don't think I'd ruin the great financial deal you got there by paying for a CLA. If it works, shoot it.
I've got a cheap ebay plastic hood...works fine.

Not at all. It would have been nice to have been able to use both of the ones I got via eBay, but there's not enough clearance to attach a second. I don't know if the legit hoods allow this?
No matter really, the bottom lens is the important one anyway.
I have 2 hoods for my rolleiflex, but the one for the viewing lens is home made (by the previous owner) and round. It fitted the 'Mat as well, and a pair of regular Rollei hoods would not (the clearance is too limited)

What is it that's off ? I wouldn't care too much if it's only the focusing scale (although I prefer it to be accurate), as long as what's in-focus on the ground glass is in-focus on the negative.

finally got the roll back from the developers.
inside self portrait, 30th of a second at 3.5
Wife surfing in bed. 3oth of a second at 3.5
my coworker clarice. Dont know if this is a light leak on the left side of the frame. might be the lighting, I am going to change the light seals. Cant remember exposure.
my boss Jean on the phone.
And a railroad shot... i think it was 500th of a second at 3.5 or something.
