A strong wind gust blew my tripod with a Yashica-Mat 124 over damaging the camera. Who is a good repairman for this camera? It may be only good for parts but it may be repairable and I would like to have it repaired if it can be.

Seeing that you live in Texas, Will van Manen in the Netherlands will not a be a practical proposition. He did fix my Yashica mat-124 though. It is still working very well.

What is broken, exactly? I purchased and repaired one that was "broken" from a fall - the side was dented in and prevented the winding mechanism from functioning. If it is something of that nature, you might want to give fixing it yourself a go, but any more complicated (broken gears, etc) and replacing may be cheaper than repairing!

btw, what part of Texas? I'm in Austin myself.

The focus works OK. The film advance lever can only be moved in a 45degree arc from about one to four o'clock. Unable to cock or trip the shutter. The aperture and shutter speed adjustments work ok. I am in the Dallas area.

The Yashica MAT 124 G I had years ago slipped from my hands and tried to move a large rock I was sitting on. Had the same thing happen except I was able to move the film forward since the mechanism was racheted and it would move back enought to cock the shutter. I would not and did not consider trying a repair myself at that time. I mention that as I would now consider repair myself, or at least until such time as I could not do something. I think I could have removed the side and straightened out enough to make it more functional. As it turned out in my case, it was stolen shortly afterwards, and before I could find a repair person.
