I need to open the top of a Yashica Minister D (rangefinder needs correction and the viewfinder frame is loose). The screws on the film speed dial and on the center of the winding lever need to removed with a spanner. However my first atempts were not sucessful:(, the screws seem to be very tight
Basic question (previous to a more energetic approach): To remove those screws do I need to turn them clockwise or anticlockwise ??
It is a basic question , but I want to be sure that I am turning them screws in the right way...
Thanks in advance
Joao

Joao,

First of all, even though it has two dimples that make it look like it needs to come off, the film speed dial does NOT need to be removed to take the top off. It will come off with the top.

The screw on the film winding lever turns counter-clockwise to remove. In other words, it is a normal thread. I use a pair of tweezers to remove mine. Just be careful that they don't slip and scratch everything up.

The window frame is a separate piece from the top,

so be careful that it doesn't fall when you lift the top off. Also, be careful of the wires for the meter, as they will keep the top tethered to the body.

To see pictures of my Minister D when I disassembled it, you can go to:

Hope this helps...
