Yashica YF test roll

I finally finished making repairs to the YF, and took it for a spin around the nearest park. My first few shots were metered with a BEWI Piccolo (selenium). I think it's finally wearing out, since I didn't get one good frame while using it. Halfway through the roll I switched to Sunny 16, and did much better, but need much more practice at it. Film is Fujifilm 200 ISO 24 Exposure (comes in a four-pack), processed and scanned at a local drugstore.

Has a nice, comfortable charm to it. Sturdy, yet elegant. Starting to blend in with the surroundings.

Hey, it focuses well, appears sharp, good contrast, looks like a great camera find. Congratulations.

Is there some interlock that might be broken so that you can shoot with incomplete wind?

Not sure about that, Colonel. It could also be some slippage of the spool. The camera does seem to struggle to overcome the drag on the film going past the pressure plate. I'm also beginning to think I don't have to trim the leader as for other bottom loaders, but since the diagram in the bottom of the camera shows a trimmed one, I'll keep doing it.

Photoshop Elements 8 really helped me recover some useful images from this roll.

After shooting another roll of film, I have identified some more problems in the film transport. And I lost the film loading instruction placard that resides on the inside of the baseplate. So, it's off to Georgia for a nice little visit with Mark Hama. That is, when I get the funds together. The repairs are going to run about twice what I paid for the camera, but the combination of the two will still be less than what the camera is worth, so I see that as a fair deal. I'll let you all know how things turn out.

The YF is a great camera, and a very unique one. I bought one last year when I was lucky enough to find it for a good price. Here in Japan they are highly sought after, and it's difficult to find one for a good price.

I got an excellent price if it had been in complete working order. But I consider it a very good price just to find one. The repairs are going to triple what I have in it so far, but that still isn't bad.

Just had to throw that last one in there. It's where the transport drive messed up, and I got multiple images on one frame.

So it's going to be on it's way to Mark Hama sometime in the future, as soon as I save up the estimate cost plus.
