Yay!!! Ilford Orders for 127 Film Will Now Be Filled!

Just received an email confirmation from Sherry at Freestyle! Thanks to all who participated, Ilford HP5+ in 46mm x 50' rolls will now be manufactured for this year!:):):)

Now to get busy putting together some projects!:D
 
For those of us that can only dream about owning a baby Rollei does this mean bulk film like you can get for 35mm or is it film and backing paper.

If you have already covered this somewhere ... oops
 
I found the thread in the tlr section so I guess it's film only and I need spools and paper to make the whole thing a reality. I guess (hope)I can find such things on Ebay maybe even on the auction site here in New Zealand.
Ilford film would be great, fresh ilford film ... smells great too.
There are a few Yashica 44 cameras for sale here and I notice cassel has his baby for sale so there could be a serious GAS attack son

Yes, it is a 50' roll of film. Using old or cutting down new 120 paper, it is easy to roll your own spools from the bulk roll. Intimidating at first for some reason.

Yeah, Yashica is wonderful, too, and the best deal is Brian's kit. Gets you started immediately!

The paper is the easy part, and using 127 film without having to slit it yourself is really cool!

I may have one 50' roll too many and I have two extra NOS Hewes 127 developing reels if you are interested. So start collecting all the bits and we look forward to your posts!:)

Freestyle was happy that Ilford has enough orders to manufacturer fresh HP5+ this year!
 
There are LOTS of cameras besides baby Rollei's that can use this film. My Tower Reflex TLR was a better camera in every way than a baby Rollei. Had a better Nikkor lens, cost a lot less, and just plain looked cooler. I would be more interested in using the film in a Kodak Bantam or other neat folder. Some of the Zeiss baby Ikontas are tiny, and have very good lenses on them.
 
With careful measuring and a good straightedge, you can cut down 120 paper to the correct width and length for 127 in just a few minutes. For many (most?) 127 cameras, you'll also have to mark the paper with frame numbers in the correct locations. Or you could just get an old roll of expired 127 film and re-use its paper over and over... With a little care, it might last a long time.
 
Lots of cameras seem to have taken 127 film so it's good news for a lot of folk. I love the feel of using a tlr over an slr but that's just me being odd.

I'm now torn between discovering a 127 camera and having fun finding all the bits I need, something I really enjoy or buying a Flexaret from cupog and enjoying all that lovely 120 film.

To start with I will read the 127 thread and follow this one. My Flexaret research is already well in hand. I also have Czech friends wo can help if I get stuck :)
