Hi to all,

I recently got a LS4000 ED and I am scanning colour negatives from 20 years back. The negatives have remained in the plastic sleeves from the lab all time. Many show a yellow cast in many parts, as well as the fingerprints of the guy who put them in the plastic sleeves. Someone told me the yellow cast is tipycal of one-hour labs.

I have washed them with soapy water and a last bath in photoflo solution but they won't go away.

I will appreciate any suggestion.

Thanks

Two possibilities:

Colour negs have an orange base mask. Are you referring to that, or is there additional yellowing on top of that?

Improperly processed film of any type may deteriorate with age.

Colour negatives look like this:

I remember that 3M film would look slightly more yellow, the colour above is normal.
Is that what you see?

Hi Frank and PS, the yellow mast is is over the orange and is not uniform. In these two examples, the negative scanned as positive does shows a slight colour cast in the centre.

In the positive you can clearly see the yellowish tone in the centre. Also the blue specks are the fingerprints and aparently the colour underneath is not affected.

Thanks for the reply
