Bottom loaders are a lot like loading stainless steel developing reels. The techniques take a while to get down but after you've mastered it, it's hard to understand why it was a problem to begin with. On the other hand, there are some folks that never get the hang loading bottom loaders and/or stainless reels. I don't think it's a matter of them not being able to learn. They just consider it too much trouble.

i had to change a setting on my computer and it all is working fine now.
i did a quick read of the manual, thanks for finding it and sharing.

the film loading 'problem' was not me or my technique (said with great humility & relief) but a camera problem. all fixed now!

Bottom loaders, one must treat them the same way a sailor treats the sea... a mix of admiration and fear. Every once in a while check to make sure the rewind knob is rotating as you advance the film, I have lost a few rolls on my zorki because of this. I would think that Im taking pictures and then realize that the film counter says 35 and I only loaded 24 exposures. This is only important at the beginning of a roll.

it's a strange but so far likable little camera.

the shutter release is towards the back of the camera, more so than any camera i remember using, so my finger has to search for it. and it's low but no threads for a soft release.
and it is small, so much so that my hand started to hurt trying to hold on to it. i used the old fallback hold, thumb & index finger around the lens with body resting against the drumstick of my thumb & palm.

my plan was to keep my 50's on the bottom feeders and i still think this will work. these will be for slower movements (& film changes) and the p's will hold the 35's.
this will work.

Sounds like you're having fun! I'd love to see a comparison photo with the new camera alongside the P. I like small. After having read everything in the archives about the P and the 7, I've just about convinced myself I need a P, now you introduce a new camera into the equation. How would the viewfinder on the IV SB be for an eyeglasses wearer? I shoot mainly 50mm.

this one is small but usuable.
so far i like this cam but i doubt any thing could sway me from the p.

The seller of my IV SB2 is great. He just sent me an email that he found the manual and will be sending it today separate from the camera. I may have to put this guy on my Christmas Card list.

like advancing the film before changing shutter speeds. that info is given as straight information and completely without a warning of dire consequences.

so i'm off for my saturday morning ritual coffee with friends and then some shooting. i went out yesterday a bit but nothing caught my eye.

Wayne: The easiest way to connect any flash to a Canon with a siderail is to find the adapter that slides on and has a PC tip.

Actually I would have printed out the PDF manual but my printer is yelling for ink. I have actually read all my camera manuals. I bet there are a lot of folks who can't say they have done that.

I was out working on the lawn waiting for the mailman to come today, but no camera. Now it will be delivered Tuesday, sent with insurance which means I will have to pick it up at the post office on Wednesday.

there are 2 small screws missing from the shoe and a small screw from the top back, any idea where i might get these?
also, the tripod socket is the older larger opening and i need an adapter for it, any idea for those?

i miss not having a grip on the camera and i think one of the m classic grips would fit but it has nothing to anchor to w/o an adapter.
i have 2 grips and i think i'll switch off between the iv sb and the lll till i can find a couple more used ones.

Definitely more compact, interesting though that the very tallest part of the IV seems to match the height of the P. Looks to be a good coat pocket camera.

Screws, find a beat body for parts. You could call around for some, but that may take forever. Maybe call a couple repair places to look for them, or confirm that they are the same for all Canon bottom loaders and then any beat body will do.

I think you should be able to find a tripod adaptor pretty easily. I bet it is an over the counter item. June in NYC.

OK, where am I,

Oh yeah, grip, how about the bottom half of an ever ready case. Another item to put on your wish list.

Oh, and don't forget about the Canon Camera Holder which is an accessory of some type for tripod use.

actually, considering my mail experiences, waiting till new york is likely quicker, for the bushing.

don't use cases, if i find the bushing i'll switch off the grips i now have till i can find/afford 2 more grips. i'd like one for each camera.
